Yesterday, Tuesday, April 13, Gary Schwertly, Karl Wierman (me), and Doug Smith congregated at my school for a mini meet. With me bringing an approximate amount of 17 machines, Gary bringing 4 machines, and Doug bringing 2. Our congregation consisted of Doug giving a lecture on the history of Candian Electroluxes, me testing Doug's Electrolux 89 and Gary's Hoover Convertible 707, a trade or two, and some gifting. Gifting in this case, was Doug graciously gifting me his complete Electrolux 89. The stunningness of this gift was so much for me that I practically had a heart attack. We then talked a short time later and continued discussion at the local Wendy's restaurant, where we stayed for 3 hours talking. I could tell that management was not amused. Overall, I had a blast and I bet both Gary and Doug did too.

P.S. There will be pictures up as soon as Doug or Gary downlodes them to the thread. I didn't have my camara due to my short term memory loss :-)

Sounds like a great time I wished I could have been there as well, plus I love Seattle from all the visits back when I used to live in Vancouver BC. . I love my 89, it's pretty complete now thanks to Doug sending me some missing attachments. It's one of the few vacs I can run anytime and not get the evil eye because it pretty quiet.

I had a great time. It was fun to talk to people that actually understand what I am talking about :D So without further adieu here are some of the pictures.

With all those vacs you guys must have had a great time.  You're right Doug, it's wonderful to be able to talk with people who understand!  Karl, you are so lucky; not just for the marvelous gift of the 89, but for finding friends who understand and support your interests.  I wish I had that when I was your age.  Thanks to Vacuumland we aren't alone!

Wow!  What a fabulous assortment of vacuums!  You guys really covered a lot of bases!  So glad you were able to get together and have a mini-meet!  Where was it that you were able to meet?  Looks like a great room, full of carpet, begging to be vacuumed... That Kenmore polisher is fabulous, I have a great full-page ad for a Kenmore polisher almost just like that model..

Fun fun fun! That 89 is gorgeous! Also like the blue XXX and the hammertone-painted L. I assume it's a reconditioned machine. I've seen E-As, Fs and Gs with that treatment but not an L.

That Lewyt 88 sure does look familiar. ;)

Wish I could have been there though. :(

I have!!

The exact same polisher, came from the estate of a little old lady I had known all my life, I had never, until now, seen another just like it! When I was a kid I used to wax her linoleum floor with paste wax and buff them for her, so im glad I have it!

Guys thanks for sharing the pictures with us.  Mini meets are always so much fun.  Looks like you had lots of neat machines to try out.

Nice example of a super sweeper!

I got to encounter 2 live in person at my favorite local vacuum shop. One was new never used (no motor) and the other one was well used, and not completely original. My friend bought them from him. He now has every kirby model except the Ezee tank model, and the early R series machines.

The Ole' Super Sweep

My Super Sweep is by far one of the most powerful machines I have. It was one of those days on Ebay that you find something for a decent price and free shipping. Sadly, though, one of the little arms of the headlight caps is broken, but that really doesn't affect its fuctionality.
