Yay!

Stopped into my favorite ever goodwill and filled my cart initially with these.

The kirby is a real nice rebuilt Sanitronic VII. The box is the deluxe Reno group with shampooer, polisher head, 2 foam bottles, the foam gun, and some other stuff.

The hoover is all I walked away with. The sanitronic was a little too much for what I normally spend ($10) They seem to think that just because it says Kirby, it has to be worth a lot, and prices them at $14, and everything else at $10.

So I figured I have never had a plastic convertible or a full hood model, and it ran really nice and quiet, might as well.

The machine has no visible scratches, just scuffs. Its pretty nice I have to say. I need to run a magic eraser over it to make it look better.

The handle is wear free, with a nice yellow rubber grip.

Its a U4317, with headlight. The machine is a pale yellow ( alittle deeper than what the pictures show.

Other side.

You can see a little wear on the bumper, and some black scuffs on the side.

This is really the first time I have ever seen one of these for sale locally, except in a few different vacuum shops.

Its my first time using one, and I like it because its very maneuverable.

The bag.

Its not that nice, it has a little hole near where the handle bail resides, and a black rub mark from the handle.

Underside.

Needs a dusting off. Brush roll has like new bristles on it.

Very nice convertible!  And just 10 bucks, wow.   There would be a price of $30 or more on it at the thrift store in my neighborhood.

should have been placed in the Contemporary forum, but I could be wrong. That is a NICE find! I love that style of Convertible, and those colors make it even better!
Congrats!

Thanks!

I have to say it matches the Constellation 86 VERY well! A good duo. Shall have to have a day of whole-house cleaning with the two.

14 for a Kirby is too expensive to you? I'd buy that in a instant in my neighborhood. Very nice Hoover. I haven't seen anything that old in a goodwill forever, plus prices are getting high. $25 for a bagless Bissell.

Eeek!

The goodwills in town are always very reasonable. I have never payed more than $15 at a goodwill for a vacuum. And most of my rarest vacuums came from goodwills.

The following vacuums were bought at this goodwill and one more in town for $10.

My most prized all original hoover 63 -cost $5.

1933 Hoover 450 dirt searcher- cost $5
1959 Eureka/ Montgomery Wards deluxe upright 2 speed in green- all original- mint
1950s Atlas canister in candy apple metallic red and some attachments
Kirby G3, G6, and a brand new never used Sentria (my friend got those)(Sentria was $20)
Kirby Classic omega all original
Rebuilt 515 (friend got that one too)
Mint concept one
Mint 1969 Dial a matic power drive (the first model)
A Concept two
1955 Eureka Roto Matic
JC penny eureka canister and power nozzle from the 70s
1970s Kenmore Duo power
1990s Kenmore Whispertone canister
1990s FILTER queen Majestic triple crown and everything.
Oreck XL9100

Also I have now seen 2 cordaway eureka models. But they were not as nice as my Vanguard model, so I passed on them.

That is a nice looking Convertible. I remember seeing those in the Sunday circular ads when I was a kid.  Maybe Zayre's carried that model?  I don't remember.  I've always liked that stripey 'color gradient' bag.  I have a blue square-hood Convertible (which was actually my grandparents' machine) that has that same bag, but in different shades of blue.

Fred, are you that old??? lol just kidding I kind of remember these things. I love that model.
Ahhh I miss the days of going into the mall and looking at the Convertibles, Concepts, Singer twin fans, F-G Eurekas and Eureka Rotomatic Ironsides.
