There is only one thing that makes me curious about some of the post-1995 Royals, both household and commercial: why did they go from a 9 or 10 amp motor down to an 8 amp motor in 2001?

Again, all additions or corrections here are welcome.

You certainly have proved your knowledge of Royals! Say, would you mind dating a maroon Royal Model 5000 handvac for me? Someone said it was 1990's, but I'm looking for a little more specific answer. BTW, good job on the list! :)

@luxg
Thank you for complimenting!

@vac_whisperer
Yes, this cleaner would date from 1989-1995.

I did forget to include the following:

COMMERCIAL DUTY UPRIGHTS
618 - 1985 to 1987

Also: the 7XXX series commercials are known as the Duke series, identifiable by the distinct red denim bag (again available as either shake-out bags with the black bag top, or with zipper for disposable bags).

Ben, Royals & the LIST...

Hello Ben.

You sure have done a great job in timelining the later model Royals.

I'm sure there are many here who really appreciate it. If I had a need for Royal information, I would definitely be one of those who would be happy benefiting from your exhaustive work.

Thank you.

If I may ever assist you with Kirbys, let me know.

Cheers & hagd all,

Bill

Also to be added to the list are certain dealer-exclusive models:

*5000NA (Stark's version of 992/993) (black trim and gray bag as opposed to dark blue)
*5700 (Stark's version of 9700) (same burgundy trim)
*4500ST (Stark's version of 4000) (same burgundy trim)

If you all can think of any dealer-exclusive Royal metal uprights in terms of trim color or whatnot, please contribute to this list.

The attached pic is of an Alva Royal - Alva is the name of a dealer which sold Royal vacuums - but I forget the location now. Aside from the bag, this appears to resemble the Electro-Hygiene 903 in terms of the red trim color.

Thank you,

Ben

UPDATE:

Models 9089 and 9700 can be distinguished from the 9000 and 9005 (and model 996 from the 992, 993, 994 and 995) by means of a green BSI (brush speed indicator) light.
