Mine is Hoover Model 65 50th Anniversary model in gold. They are so incredibly rare. Does anyone out there have one? I also love Model 69. Thanks, Ron

My favorite Convertible...

Is a model 69, as well..

My favorite non-Convertible is a model 63.

Here's a pic of the two of mine glamming it up...

Denim

I'm not really into Convertibles, but my favorite is the Denim model. I had a pristine one with a NOS hood and gave it to John Pease, who has a really terrific Convertible collection but didn't have that one.

Probably my lilac colored one and my denim one, if they only had lights though they'd be that much nicer.

I'd not have a specific model, but I love the sound of the Decade-80 type motors.

For me

My favorite convertible of all time has to be the gorgeous pink 65.

I have the base of one with a cracked hood. Need handle and original bag eventually. But its still cool!

Here are some of my past/presently owned convertibles that I like.

The machines I do -not- own any longer-

1960s 33 special- now with Fred Stachnik
1979 U4123 (red one) - also with Fred S now
1960 model 68- sold on ebay long ago

The 1020 is my daily driver for general use. Its super quiet, and a very good runner!

The Blue two tone is a very special machine for me. Its my childhood vacuum. Its a Commercial convertible model 344 from the mid 1960s. It was the first vacuum cleaner that was ever declared mine. I never turned it on until I was 16 years old!

Its the smoothest and quietest convertible I have ever used. New old stock 344 styled bag on it.

I had another one but Fred Stachnik now has it.

Of course the 913 isn't a convertible, but I think its close enough! A fine gift from Greg Nunn. All original, and very beautiful all around!

Yes Fred, the sale of Marcella Loraine of 725 Gerald, 63031. She had no kids or hubby, but her family had a presale Thanksgiving Eve '09 and I snatched this up for $5 and had the tools to boot. The brush strips on it are replacements but still long and supple.

65 and 69

Mine are the 65 and 69. I sure wish I had the original bags on each of them, but I am stll happy to have them.

The 65 was my grandmother's so it is a family heirloom and I know it's exact history. And the 69 I got a few months ago as the lady was putting out on the curb for trash pick up. It belonged to her mother who had died a few weeks before and the lady didn't need it.

Justin, mine is definitely not for sale! What all of a sudden you want a Convertible again after you bid up so many on eBay under many screen names back in 2007?

Here is something you dont see too often!

This was when my collection was at a peak 46 vacuum cleaners.

Enjoy!

I have all machines except the red U4123, lavender 33, and Commercial convertible 344 in eggshell ( had two so I gave one and the others to Fred S.)

I'll vote for model 68. Blue with the older hight adjustment. Also the last one that the handle matched the hood.

The model 65@69

Hi All I love the 65 my parents back in 1959 got the Pink 65,My Moms sister the same day got the Gold 65. My parents gave it to a friend who needed a vacuum in 1969. My Aunt traded it in for a Kirby Classic she loves Kirbys at least she gave me the classic. She now has the g6 and loves it. She says this will be her last vacuum ( she is 87)any way she says when she goes the g6 is nine.Sorry my mistake my Aunt did NOT TRADE it in she gave it to me it works very well. I put a four brush roll in it Wow works as good as any new Kirby. Doug

The top two

on my wish list would be a pink 65 and the lavender 33. Mom's friend had a 65 and I would entertain myself with it contentedly in the livingroom while the women had coffee and talked in the kitchen. I loved stretching out that hose to see how far it would reach. An aunt had a lavender one and her house always got a thorough cleaning by me whenever we visited. My cousins were never so easily amused!

Hey John,

How are you doing? Hope all is going well with your health and the remodeling.

While I'm not a huge Hoover fan, I really like the second one from the top of the stairs. Back in 1977, I used to hang out at a vacuum store in Venice FL after school. I remember the man who owned it was a Royal dealer, and also carried Hoover. One day we needed a new vacuum, and my Dad worked at the bank across the street from the store. He gave me the money to go buy a new vacuum of my choice (within the amount of money he gave me) and I chose a convertible almost exactly like the one on your stairs. It had the white metal base and yellow hood and bumpers just like yours. The only difference was the bag was a two tone yellow flowery pattern. I got it and the attachments for around $80. I took it over to the bank and put it in Dad's car trunk and couldn't wait for him to come home. I've been looking, but can't find another one like it. If I ever do, you can be sure it is coming home with me.

The bag looks so crisp and new! Such a pearly white base. A perfect pumper! Beautiful cord!

I also have a Golden Model 65, it was found on Craigslist a few years back for $5. I have a brand new hood for this that a very generous club member sent me, it'll get installed soon and I'll post pics when it's on.

My other favorite would be the Pink Model 65.

My Favorite HOOVER Convertible is the gorgeous model 70 that Robert Clow from Quincy, Illinois gave me at the last Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Group Convention last year at the Vacuum Cleaner Museum. It's in perfect condition and it's mint cosmetically. Thanks Robert. I couldn't have such a wonderful collection without my friends who share with me.

It is a "must have"  if you collect HOOVERS.

Do you like it?  How different do you find it from your "Seniors"

I have 3,  my aunt has one.  Those bag snaps didn't hold up well,  though. Glad you have something from "over HERE" "over THERE".

My 66, but the bag is shot and I'm having trouble reproducing it. I've got a really close cloth outer bag match in color, but it's to big. I made the top narrower but now I need to take in the sides. It's too big and looks funny.
