This could be an odd question to ask: has anyone ever put a Royal fan into a Kirby motor, or, a Kirby fan into a Royal motor???

I don't think they would fit.

I was under the impression that the motor shafts on Royal and Kirby were different diameters.

I'm not sure it would fit. I took my Royal apart a few months ago because I curious about how it compared to a Kirby in its engineering. I think Justin is correct about the armatures. I'm thinking the diameter on a Royal armature is a little smaller. Plus, the blades on a Royal fan are deeper. So I don't know if there would be enough clearance inside the fan case. But I'm not positive about these things, because I wasn't thinking about interchanging fans. So I wasn't looking for those things. These are just vague recollections.

no, a Royal and Kirby fan are not interchangeable.....thats three years experience working in a vacuum shop...and having been in both machines...

just my two cents.....

Getting back to the original question, why would anyone want to use a Royal fan on a Kirby? Or vice versa? They're two totally different machines. Doesn't a 10 blade fan move more air than a 6 blade anyway? I guess it depends on blade length and pitch. I've heard a metal Kirby fan gives a Generation series machine more suction, I have yet to try it myself....

Oh heavens,
Don't do it.
It's practically insest.

Besides, I second the other, I don't think they would fit.
