Hello gus, I've just found a vacuum cleaner that I had never found before in italy, the wonderful Celebrity S 3111, the only wheeled model that we had here for a while.
A men was selling it on a second-hand newspaper, I called him and I got it
for 35 euro.
It is in very good conditions, with all the tools and owner's manual.
I'm very happy!

what about the 3 speeds?

hello, I've discovered that the tree buttons that adjust the suction of the vacuum cleaner is not an electronic device, but just a thing that directs airflow out of the suction hose...there's a switch at the end of the hose handle, but it doesn't seem to work.
Any idea about how to fix it?
Thanx in advance, tommy.

Tommy...

I am guessing that the switch at the end of the hose is a way to turn on the machine. It is pneumatic and probably clogged in some way. Our first Celebrity machines did not offer an electric hose so this was a way to offer this convenience to the customers. Hoover had the on/off switch on a Constellation in around 1960 with disastrous results with the electric hose. They went for a nonelectric alternative with the Celebrity. In 1975, they debuted the powernozzle so also the electric hose with much better results. I bet you will find that the switch on the hose is a switch for the machine but it is not electric. Let me know what you find out.

I'm curious - I've seen pics of the Constellation with the electric hose; what was 'disasterous' about it??

That's a very pretty blue. A nice find.
Is it very powerful? I have a QS model that has more power than any other vacuum I have used. I just wish I could find high filtration H bags.

It just did not work correctly and some users received a shock...most were retrofitted with a simple toggle switch drilled into the unit to turn it on and off. I guess that is why they dropped the power nozzle program for this series of canisters.

Connie power nozzles

I didn't know Hoover was planing on using power nozzles with the Constellation. I wondered why they waited so long to make their own after the first power nozzles came out in the 50's. Do you know any more about the program?

I have a brown Celebrity II Estate with that same hose/switch setup. I had so take the handle end of the hose apart and clean the thing in there that makes the air pressure, but now it works perfectly.

Hello, I will try to clean it too, now it works when the cleaner is on to turn it off, but the pump doesn't make enough pressure to turn the switch on.
