This was sent to me by another member that put many hours into this to make this awesome list. Sorry for all the little personal notes I put in but I was marking off all the models I have and it saved that way.
I hope all of you Hoover lovers enjoy this.
I also have one of these for Convertibles too and someday we might have one for the Dial a matics too.

the difference between old style and new style were the handel grips. New style being when they added the power surge handel.

Thanks. guys...

for the list, nice to have the list to go with the convertible list I have from Jeff P. from years ago. I had no idea there were so many models of the Concept. One of the St. Louis collectors has a great number of these..now he can date them. Will anxiously await the Dial-A-Matic list!

I spent many a time doing research on the Concepts but some areas are sketchy and can be updated ASAP. I sent you an update on the mysterious 4217 Concept 2, apparently Penney's had a non-PD Concept 2 in the same slate green color.

P.S. the electronic Power Surge Concept 3323 had a blue striped bag like the 3319, not plaid

Hey Phillip,

I believe I have the U3319-900. I will have to go home and
check. Cleans well but very noisy at 7.2 amps. Thanks for posting,

Kenny

Heres mine & tother half's UK version!

Hi Philip and everyone.

Cheers for all the US information on these cleaners.

Over in the UK they are rarities and I think we only ever had two models - a powerdrive machine and a non-powerdrive version.
Always at the top end of the market and comparitively expensive when compared to the more usual Hoover Ranger and Junior, they didnt sell particularly well. Hence us getting only two versions, whilst you guys had a miriad of versions.

Visiting a repair shop a year or so ago, the owner said to me and Rob words to the effect of 'have you ever seen the hoover cleaners that drive themselves?'.
He then headed off upstairs and came down with a very dirty and dusty U3101 Concept One.

We oooh'ed and ahhh'ed over it, came to leave and he let us have it for free!

It is missing important components though in the form of the brushroll and baseplate - grrrrrr! - but powers up and sounds sweet as a nut. Its also missing the locking button from the top of the handle, but we can live with that. Its just the other bits.

Having cleaned it up, it now positively shines and is in superb condition.
Its condition has always had me thinking that this was one that got left behind in the store room, was never sold and was instead used as a source of spare parts. If so, thankfully it didnt get cannibalised too much, though what it did lose are pretty essential bits. lol.

Anyways - piccy attached below and thanks for opening my eyes to the Concept One.

Regards
Paul

Can anyone confirm exactly what components we are missing - I am sure that there are others apart from belt(s), brushroll and baseplate. Be good to know exactly what to keep an eye out for.

Regards
paul

@kirbyvertibles I realize it's been a few years since this topic was active, but I thought I could shed some light on one of the Concept models missing information on the chart.

I can comment somewhat on #8 U3225 as I have one. From your description of U3305, it sounds identical. Mist gray/gray-ish color with gray striped bag (though mine has the generic Hoover replacement bag), 2-speed motor, headlight, cord reel, and light gray handle. Red cord return button.

If it's similar/the same as U3305, it's newer than I thought. My U3225 is a joy to use. Compared to the Concept Two and PowerMAX, it's so light and agile. It's also much quieter than the other two. I'm sad to report that it emitting a burning smell as of late, motor-related. Here's a pic:

Hello,
yes I love these grey models. At the time we compiled the list we didn't have the info but since then I ran across one at a thrift store and corrected the list. I'm still missing info on 1 of the earlier models though. The 3107 has us baffled
Thank you for posting the pic

A wonderful example of I think the U3109-100 in Pastel Beige And Burgundy. A beautiful machine.

U3107

Doug Smith's website shows the Canadian model U3107-001. So would there have been a USA U3107?

Rationalizing, the Canadian Convertible model U4169, also uploaded on his website, is a close or exact match to the USA model U4119.

Here's Doug's 3107-001 photo. It also is a similar or identical cosmetic match to the USA model U3101:

Re: Reply #12

The blue and white Model 2910 & unidentified drop-down model in color reversal preceded the Model 2911 shown in reply #12 as this 1979 JCP Spring & Summer catalog shows:

Re: Model 3225, reply #15 & Model 3223

The Model U3225's original bag jacket had the vertical stripe pattern like the Model U3305. It was sold at department stores such as The Crescent and Belk from c.1981 to c.1983.

The Model U3223 was styled the same as the U3101 with less features such as having only a 1-speed motor, hand wrap cord, and no headlight. It sold at catalog showroom stores such as Best Products Co. circa 1981.

old in stores from c.1981 to c.1983.
