I bought this hose on EBay. If interested, I can let you know the seller - if you E-mail me - address in profile. (I don't want to either promote or cause discussion of the seller on the forum.) I am quite impressed with the hose for several reasons.

1) There are no bulky cuffs at either end of the hose as with other aftermarket models.

2) It's tan/brownish in color, with what looks to be a gray stripe (wire) - so it could go with many machines.

3) Power switch in handle for the PN.

4) The Side Kick slips on easily with no wiggling to get the electrical connector in - and it locks onto the handle - just like original equipment!

5) It swivels at the handle end! YAY!!!

6) The hose is 6'2" between the inner extremes of the ends. A full 7'6" end to end including the handle.

7) (I didn't take the handle apart to look how it's built) - but the machine end is clamped in with a crimped metal ring - no glue.

I think it has been at least ten years that I have had this good of a hose without spending the $$$ that Lux wants - and I believe it will last as long. It's good, thick material.

Machine end. Clips easily into the inlet. Seals tightly. releases easily, chrome plated.

Handle end. Feels good in the hand - no sharp or rough edges.

Suction regulator - Nice and tight, not so apt to move on it's own. Seals tight. I do admit missing the wheel (as original) though....

I am glad to hear that you like that hose. I am going to get one for my 1205. I can't wait to get it, I have not had an electric hose for the 1205 since I moved. Several things went missing durring the move, including the hose port/bag access plate for my XXX. It will be good to have the 1205 back in regular service.
Thanks for the tip.
Justin

Aftermarket hose

I can't seem to get the Electrolux Side Kick to work on the after market hoses. Anyone know a trick to this?

Thanks,

Bud

Perfect?

Looks like the hose that came with my not-so-perfect Perfect canister. Can you tell whether it was made in China? I didn't have good luck with the hose--the screw holding the electrical business pulled out/stripped out within ten minutes. I might just superglue it in. The hose in your pictures has identical features to the Perfect hose. Hope you have better luck.

Great hose, Rick.
I bought one for my Ultra Lux about 3 years ago from a vac shop in Salem, MA.
They sold it for about $75 on-line.
I called the store directly and got it for about $50 or so.
They offered 2 colors.
One was beige and the other option was gray.
I wanted the gray (and the offering on eBay showed gray so I thought I was getting gray and ended up with the beige version.)
Actually, it all worked our well since the beige goes well with the Super J.
I'm planning to order one of each color from the same shop in the near future.
Overall, they are great hoses.
However, mine had a leak around the pistol grip which was corrected with an O ring from the hardware store.
Now it works fine now.
I don't thing anyone could go wrong with the hose Rick's promoting.
Much better than the cloth hose that comes with the steel body.
Just my 2 cents.

Bud - I know what you mean. This is the first aftermarket hose I've had that works perfectly with the Sidekick.

Brad - $64.00 (US) including shipping. (when you gonna get out of the sauna - you're gonna wrinkle).

Jay - I don't see made in China anywhere on it - but that doesn't mean it wasn't. Just "patent pending".

Pat - Thanks, actually the photo on the listing looked as if the hose was gray. I got this one - it's for (almost) daily driving, so didn't much care. I don't have a Silverado - so this is even closer to an Olympia One than gray would be.

I bought the same hose for my Lux '89 except it had the plastic machine end, the type that is for the later models - 6500, diplomat, etc. I removed the plastic end and added the coupling with the pigtail from an original '89 hose. It works great. At first I had problems getting the sidekick to work but then realized I just was not pushing the hose far enough into the inlet. Works great now and what an increase in suction over the cloth hose.
