what the heck? its funny because i was just on ichat and my kirbies on the shelf behind me looked like the bag was on the wrong side...maybe they used a webcam to take the picture? but i like your explanation better :P

btw that facial expression is on purpose, and yes, my arm is attached to my body lol

LOL! I didn't know a web cam would flip an image like that. I just figured the person who put up the auction had flipped their digital photos with whatever software they use.

Once

on the kirby website, there was an actual picture of a sentria from the emtor side, but the height adjuster was there and the emtor was on the other side. It was when they were having that video contest a while back. Since it was from the side, a webcam couldn't be the explanation.

I'd be impressed if anyone found a British Made Kirby, pretty much all of them were made over there in the US in Ohio or Texas... :P

I've seen a lot of these flipped images lately, seems people just can't be bothered to take proper pictures any more... :\

The best flipped picture I have is a grand piano in a pretensions Style & Design Decorator magazine. The piano is so prominent in the full page picture it's hard to believe the 'editors' missed it. I suspect it was flipped to better relate to the picture on the facing page, but still!

It peeves me the growing incidents of spelling errors in magazines and newspapers and perhaps the most jarring is mispronunciation of common words unfamiliar to the local talking heads talent on the Provincial local TV stations. It takes the form of putting the accent on the wrong syllable - it happens so fast but your ear knows something is wrong and it shows the newscaster to be ignorant as a rock. Gawd forbid the teleprompter breaks down sand they have to extempoirize - I think the teleprompter guys do this on purpose sometimes just to watch the idiot talent flail live on camera.

Sorry to take this thread even further away from vacuums, but I notice a general sloppiness taking hold in informal written communications overall. People sometimes find my E-mails annoying since they are so verbose and tiresome to read, but I still have trouble using the abbreviations and shorthand that e-communication has spawned.
Now, proper grammar, spelling and punctuation is becoming less of a given in any written text it seems! (although I am great at bad spelling or less than perfect sentence structure)

Anyway, the buyer of that Kirby should complain to the seller that the machine is not as advertised, as the bag is on the opposite side from what their photo indicates! (Just kidding of course!)

Cheers,
Doug

Another Thought

I had another brainstorm. Maybe this is the Ultra-Rare Kirby made for left-handed individuals??! No more pesky bags bumping into your leg while engaging in left-handed vacuuming! Suitable for left-footed people too!

Regards,
Doug

I would love that idea!! But in the image on the auction, it is clearly flipped, just look at the lettering on the belt lifter.

This is just any ordinary Kirby, the photographs are flipped. I can't see anything about this being a European model.

Perhaps you are confusing this with right-hand-drive vehicles.

Noticed the belt-lifter lettering as well!

'Tis not a Kirby at all, it's a Ydrik (well, with a backward "K")

Anyway, I am still not sure why the image would be reversed, as I didn't think that a standard webcam, or even a built-in laptop cam would flip the image.

I thought maybe it would have a practical application, say for video conferencing or Skype calls, but that does not seem to make much sense either.

I wonder if the seller has gotten a bunch of messages asking why his Kirby is directionally challenged, or complaining about his photography!

Cheers,
Doug E.

It is definitely taken with some sort of web cam. You can see the guy's computer chair in the bottom left.

And what looks like his arm as well perhaps

I can just imagine him precariously positioning his laptop to get the pictures. I've tried it myself, but I can't recall if the images were backward or not.
