That's one incredibly beautiful 925! Wish mine looked that good...still, seems a very high opening bid...wonder why Stan's parting with it?? I wish I could download a copy of the video clip on the listing page!

Whatever the reason doesn't really matter, it's a prized piece of collection history and will probably remain as such in the right hands for a long time.

I was also interested to hear what Stan said about the clutch system on the fan - about the fan not starting immediately when the motor does...I'd never heard that before, and I don't think it's the case with mine, I checked this afternoon. Can anyone explain this feature further, and whether or not it was used on the British versions? And where is the clutch located? The only difference I can see with the 900 and 925 motors is that the top bearings are totally sealed.

Why?

Why is Stan selling pieces of his collection?

"Why is Stan selling pieces of his collection?"

Why don't you ask Stan that!

About Stan's 925

Many years ago, I went to visit Stan in his fabulous apartment in L.A.. He demonstrated an earlier "large" Hoover. He told me that the bigger motors did that. It takes 'em awhile to wind up to full speed. It's definitely a great sound. By the 30s, I think there weren't many except the large Hoovers that sounded like that. The 925 is quite a beautiful machine.

I was watching this auction and today, the Hoover 925 mysteriously disappeared before the auction was over.

Maybe a private sale and it was removed early? Wonder who got it?

In reading further in this listing, it says the auction was cancelled early and is no longer available.

Interesting.

Whoops!--sorry for the double post. I got some kind of error message and thought I had to do it again.

As Billy Lipman would say,

"I hate that!" Who knows why Stan pulled the listing. Maybe his agent saw that no bids were forthcoming so he advised Stan to pull it.
