Many years ago, I went to visit Stan in his fabulous apartment in L.A.. He demonstrated an earlier "large" Hoover. He told me that the bigger motors did that. It takes 'em awhile to wind up to full speed. It's definitely a great sound. By the 30s, I think there weren't many except the large Hoovers that sounded like that. The 925 is quite a beautiful machine.
