I got my new Dyson DC21 canister on Wednesday night. I haven't had the chance to use it much yet, but it seems like a really good machine. Finally, Dyson produced a canister with a power nozzle. Lots of suction. The hose handle is unwieldy because of its size, but the wand extension telescopes out of the handle; it isn't a separate attachment. The bare floor brush is very nice.

and WHY do vacuum makers insist on bulky grips? does this cleaner share a "brushbar" with any other model Dyson?

This is Dyson's 2nd attempt at a cyclider machine with a motor head. The first was the DC05 Motor head which is made extremely unreliable because of the motor head. Chris i have been trying to send you those pics of the 15 for a while sozzie

I tried one out today at Linen & Things Cda. and while it is nice it just isn't me. Too plasticky and gimmicky. I couldn't figure out if the handle stays in the upright position or not. The one I was using didn't. I removed the dirt bin easily enought but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to open it. There was a plastic tab on the front with an arrow but it didn't seem to do anything? I also didn't like having to turn the beater bar on with my foot down on the power nozzle. Much better if it was up on the handle. The whole handle/wand assembly just seems too chunky
I also tried the new is it DC17, the new thinner one. Much nicer than the previous ones including the Ball. Not near as cumbersome, but the one I was using in the store I the brushroll wouldn't turn on no matter how many times I pressed that brushroll button next to the on/off switch.. is there a trick to it?
