It was an Airway vacuum that used to be sold as Vita-Vac sold thru VitaMix.go to VitaMixes website-think they still list bags for the machine.

Air Way and Vita Vac

I think that Vita Mix stopped selling the VitaVac several years ago. Also, Air Way is out of business. This rotten economy has been very hard on the vacuum industry. Hoover/Royal/Dirt Devil have gone to China, Eureka is nearly gone all together. Several of the Kirby offices in Utah have gone, I was hoping to go back to working in a Kirby office.
Very sad. :(

Vita Mix stopped selling the Vita Vac when they could no longer get them from AirWay-when AirWay went under-Sad-was a GREAT vacuum.

It was a sad thing when Air-Way went under, but in all honesty, I never even heard of Air-Way before I joined the VCCC. I never saw a television or magazine ad, and truth be told, Air-Way didn't do themselves any favors not having offered an upright since 1940. There are those who will use an upright, and ONLY an upright, the Air-Way was not for them. Oreck is famous for their 8-lb. upright, but they do offer a canister for someone who absolutely, positively WILL NOT use an upright. I feel Air-Way shot themselves in the foot not doing similarly. Just my two cents....

I completely agree with you Karl. My mom is one those people. She pays top dollar for her vacuums, but it will NOT be a canister. She has never owned one, and she never will. LOTS of people find them very inconvenient.

I never heard of Airway either until I found this site. I don't even know if they were available in Canada.
