I've been in bed all week with a really lousy head cold, so I've had lots of time to watch TV. There's a "Little Rascals" marathon on one of the channels and I've tended to stay there, not having ever seen many of their shows.

There was one on last night where Spanky has to babysit a house full of babies who get into all sorts of mess, including one who plays with the vacuum cleaner, blowing flour all over the kitchen.

The vacuum cleaner is a then-new Electrolux Model XII. It's the same vacuum cleaner (apparently) that appears in several Three Stooges and Laurel & Hardy shows, and which I believe I now have in my collection -- remember my story about the Ellis Mercantile Prop House auction?

I'd seen another Little Rascals episode where one of them uses the Electrolux to milk a cow, but I had never seen this one.

I looked around on the internet via google but couldn't find any photos of the Electrolux. But I did find this one, from the Three Stooges!

The kids are so funny and cute

Watched a few episodes last night, the kids are so cute and funny. My favorite episodes from last night are “Dogs is Dogs” and “Free Eats” were two midgets dressed as infants rob several women of their Jewelry. I’ve also seen the cow episode.

Hard to believe that shows made in the 1930’s are actually better, than some of the junk made today.

Heres a link to one of the episodes, you will need to install the DivX plug in. It’s better just to download the whole episode to your computer.

I remember that 3 Stooges episode. That vacuum (Royal? Cadillac?) eventually explodes while they are using it to vacuum the grass (notice the background....they are out in a yard)......

Love The Little Rascals And The Three Stooges!

And I remember both of those Rascals episodes and the one of the Three Stooges that the picture is from. I remember Curly running the vacuum, leaving it sit while Moe chews him out, and the bag blowing up. Then the episode ends with a bulldozer flattening their "home." But what make is the vacuum? Kind of looks like a prewar Eureka to me.

I beeeeeeelieve the vacuum cleaner in the 3 Stooges photo above is a Packard. There was another episode with an old Royal straight suction machine where the bag gets bigger and bigger.

The Mastadonolux.........

Yes! The stoneage 'bagless' model. They were pretty smart back in the day. To empty it, Wilma just sent it over to Barny and Betty's front lawn.

WILMA!!!!!!!!! =0)

Is this an Electrolux Model XII? If so, can you tell by the number on the nameplate, or is it marked somewhere else? That's what the owner claims it is.

Yes, that is a Model XII -- that has seen better days!

Thanks, Charles. Can one tell by the information on the nameplate or just by the features?

Agreed that it has seen better days. There's another photo I didn't post that showed the Electrolux badge so worn that it was hardly readable.
