I've seen a few of these around at thrift stores for like $25. Would this be worth the amount they want?

Yes, the hose (if it really is new), and the attachments are worth that much. Looks like its been well used, but as long as the motor isnt screeching, and you put new filter bag, liner, and before motor filter in,,(after filters would be good too) wipe out the inside of the bag compartment, and maybe wipe down the whole outside of the machine,,definatly worth 25 dollars. Wouldnt hurt to Check the cord too. I think that particular set of attachments is sort of rare also.

I would say it is since it's the complete package. Those are great cleaners too.

I'd pay $75 just for the hassock. Love them, and they are more rare than hen's teeth around here.

Welcome...

As mentioned, that tool set it kind of hard to come by.

I also like hassocks so it's always tempting when a vacuum with one turns up. I think if you want it, go for it. It wouldn't hurt to try and knock of a little extra off the price either. ;)

A Message to Chase

Hi, Chase, this is Nathan, Electrolux-Dude, I live in Amarillo, and I personally drove over to the gentleman's house and looked at his Compact. Personally I think he is asking WAY too much for his machine, considering the shape that it is in. Plus, the motor sounded like it needed to be replaced, as it sounded like the bearings were shot, and the inside of the vacuum looks to have had water sucked up in it as it looks rusty inside. So, I think I would seriously pass on that vacuum. Keep your eyes open--I'm sure you'll find something a lot better, If worse comes to worse--I've got several Compacts that are in a lot better shape, that I personally go through the motors and check them over, that I'd sell you for $75-100.00.
Anyway--Just my 2 Cents.
Take care--
Nathan
Electrolux-Dude

The attachments!

Are very rare, I have been looking for the Filtex type Compact tools for YEARS...like 20..!

Yeah, I like those attachments too and would love to have a set. Ditto for the hassock, but shouldn't it have a divider wall inside to make a separate space for the motor unit and the hose, and then the attachments fitting into elastic loops in the lid? That's the way my Compact hassock is made.

buy it......

The tools alone are worth the price and you could get a replacement motor or rebuild the one that is currently in the machine,,, come make a choice.

I would have bought it but I took Electrolux-dude's advice and had to pass. It's a 2 hour drive there and if it is in that bad of shape, I can't really afford to mess with it. Thanks beerad.
