I need a replacement outer bag for my Model 62 that I'm going to make an attempt to restore, anyone know where I can find one? I've googled, but it only comes up with the paper bags.
The vac was left behind in a house that I moved into about 6 years ago. She runs pretty good, but the outer bag is in terrible condition, I would try washing it, but I bet it would fall apart. I called the vac shop where I bought the outer bag for my Decade 80 and ask if the same outer bag would fit the Model 62 and he said it wouldn't
The reason that the later Convertible bags won't fit the older pre-convertible machines is the opening for the bag ring/bellows is larger on the older cleaners and smaller on the newer (post 1957) Convertible cleaners...
Of course, an original bag would be the ideal replacement, but for the interum, would you settle for anything in order to get the cleaner working again?
Other options would be:
-cloth dump-out bag
-early replacement bag (with the large opening to accomodate the bellows and Handi-Sac) arrangement (only applicable if your cleaner still has the bellows and Handi-Sac fill tube)
-late vinyl replacement bag that switched the cleaner to using a type C bag
