Anybody ever used one of these? My dad's girlfriend moved in (yes, i lost my mom in 2008) and she has a blueish-green one. It works so much better than dads Eureka C(R)apture Plus Pet Lovers Bagless. Its bagged but it works better than the c(r)apture and its so much quieter.

My aunt has one, and it takes beating. I think it is 4 years old. Great air-flow. I've used it about 5 times and I'm very impressed. It's not the best 100 dollar vac, but it is a very good vacuum.

I just got one a couple of weeks ago from the salvation army, I have to say I have used these a few times and now that I have one I will be using it all of the time, Great airflow and suction. this machine is also good at giving a good deep cleaning to a carpet. oh and speaking of durability, these machines are pretty well made.

A VERY nice vacuum for the money...

Probably the best bagged vacuum you are going to find for its price range. As mentioned above, the air flow is great, along with its large fill tubes, and the dirt not having to travel threw the hose before entering the bag like most vacuums. I found a used one for $6 at a thrift store and I honestly couldn't be more impressed!

I had a teal one like the one you described for a year, then sent it off to duties in my mom's store, and now I have a red one. The motor is pretty well muffled and it has a nice roaring lower pitched sound to it, you hear more swooshing of air then you hear the motor really.
The Smartvac is one of my favorite plastic clean air uprights, it's a surprisingly good machine and well worth it for a hundred dollars.
The brushroll does an excellent job at grooming the carpet, airflow through the nozzle is insane, impossible to clog, and bags are very easy to change.

Highly rated by Consumer Reports for at least five years.....ever since Eureka started making them. The only complaint they had was that it was hard to pull due to the way it grabs the carpet.

I love the fact that Eureka gives you proper "adult-size" attachments on board! They are actually the very same tools you used to get on the World Vac canisters. Love the separate classic Eureka dusting brush and upholstery nozzle - though I think the clips to hold the upholstery nozzle are too wimpy and if you don't store the nozzle properly, it can easily fall off. The dusting brush has a very secure little cubby hole though!

Many people have complained that the brush roll on-off switch is hard to move and seems very prone to breaking. There seems to be a magical way to get it to shift into place but there is no hint given on the vac base to remind you how to set this properly (move switch with handle down, or handle up - not sure what the correct method is). Do other users have problems adjusting this switch?

Best bagged upright vacuum cleaner i have ever used. It almost goes into self propelled mode in my living room on it's carpet. Does very well. Has the "switch" (dial-turn thing) to switch from upright to hose mode for better suction. Has a power nozzle brushroll (brush shuts off with the handle up). Has a lever thing that locks to shut the brushroll off for hard wood/tile floor. Bag isn't super huge but it isn't too small. Filters very well. I put a fresh bag in it (it was full from dad's girlfriend moving out of her house) did my living room, the hallway, the back porch/room and my room and got probably 1/2 bag full (maybe 1/4 idk.. don't remember).

It gets a 5/5 for performance but a 4/5 for color. I would prefer the red one. It's also not the pet-lovers one, so it does not have the Eureka Pet Power Paw (turbine tool), but i can just use the one off the c(r)apture.

The c(r)apture has been sentenced to life in the basement because the Smart-Vac works a lot better and because the 'performance indicator' light is ALWAYS on on the c(r)apture which means it's not performance as well as it should.

My first Smartvac needed a good grip with your thumb to "snap" the brushroll switch into place. My newer one doesn't require as much effort but still needs a good grip with your thumb to turn it off. It's not the easiest to use switch but it's not worth complaining about either.

this one.... it requires you to push the lever thingy back hard but it sticks in place very well.

BEST upright vacuum cleaner i have used.

Uprights I have used: Kirby Generation 3, Kirby Heritage 2 Legend, Hoover Decade 80, Sanitaire S648, Panasonic Jet-Flo,

Don't let the Smartvac fool you... It can't outclean my Sanitaire SC888, Kirby Heritage, or Hoover guardsman. But it does groom much better then all of those.

it could so outclean a kirby &/or a hoover but no idea on a sanitaire since i don't have anything besides 2 tristars

I love mine... my favorite thing is that the hose doesn't fight you while using it... and it is pretty powerful as well, makes a lovely throaty sound when slapping at the carpet. When I'm not using the Hoover W/T or Dyson DC 14, the Smart Vac is my daily driver. The cord clip is in a perfect place and does its job very well. The height adjust lever is easy to manipulate (unlike the bare floor lever). Like Dyson and unlike Hoover, the hose is attached at the bottom so the machine follows instead of falls when tugged by the hose.

My few minor gripes are:

The switch could be in a better place.... on the handle within fingertip reach or at the bottom as a foot switch

The crevice tool gets in the way of the quick release cord hook swinging all the way around

Headlight shines everywhere but the floor (though it looks cool off to one side like that)

One of the attachments (I think the crevice tool) will not fit on the end of the 2nd wand, so doing edges with a crevice tool isn't easy).... plus the nested extension wands are as inane and annoying as Dyson's telescopic system... just give me 2 and that are identical and let me put any attachment on any of the wands or DIRECTLY on the hose end, please and thank you (can't put attachments right on the hose end with the Smart Vac, that smaller plastic wand has to be attached for the hose to accept them).

Power Paw (turbo tool) is not the strongest, and must be unscrewed to take apart for cleaning or belt changes.... has too many nooks and crannies that collect fine dust on the inside.... Hoover turbo tool blows the Eureka out of the water.

When I use this versatile vacuum (or one of the other two in my "trinity" of daily drivers, I make sure to use the attachments and the bare floor feature... if I just wanted to do carpets, I would use a lighter more dedicated or older more nostalgic carpet upright only, so when I have one of my modern plastic beautiful beasts out, I use it to its utmost abilities/potential. Of course I still prefer the Windtunnel despite is awful hose at attachments, just for aesthetic reasons an for the self-propelled and dirt finder light features.

I have a question... Has anyone ever tried the bagless version of this that came out way back in I think the early 2000s? I think they had a pretty unique system for the bagless chamber for the time.

I have three of them. A teal one, a red one and a yellow one. I wished I had a purple one though. I do like the way they clean. Probably one of Eureka's best vacs in a long time.
