Currently there are THREE Roll-Easys on eBay! I was not going to publish this here, because I imagine there are a lot of people watching them already, especially since the bidding is getting very aggressive.

However, my curiosity about the hoses on two of these is driving me bananas and I just have to ask about them.

One is the earlier version with the concave body shape, rubber handle, the flip-over rug/floor tool, and the matching ribbed turquoise hose I've always associated with all Roll-Easys.

Roll-Easy Bonanza, Part Two

The other two are the later version with the convex body shape and metal carrying handle. One of these has the flip-over rug/floor tool, but the other one has the flip-over tool AND the new flat rug tool but is missing the separate bare-floor tool.

Now, here's the oddest thing: BOTH of these later models have woven vinyl hoses. I believe this is purely coincidental -- even though both hoses are of the same color and pattern.

Roll-Easy Bonanza, Part Three

And here's the third one.

SEE link.

The primary reason I don't think the woven hoses are correct for those two, even though they are exactly the same, is because the hose simply does not match the color scheme at all. The hoses are gray with red and white tracing, and I am SURE that I have seen that same identical hose on other machines, leading me to believe that they are bojack hoses from a vac supply house.

But I'm not sure, so I have to ask... DID the later Roll-Easys have woven vinyl hoses? And if so, were they (oddly) gray with red and white tracing that do not match the machine's copper and tuquoise design scheme at all??!

I have received several queries about these Roll-Easys, and I in turn have asked the reigning Queen of the Roll-Easy, Tania Voigt, but haven't heard back from her yet.

INQUIRING MINDS *NEED* TO KNOW!!!

Well, um, the Royal Pony Tank is not *quite* as rare or hard to find as the Roll-Easy. ;)

I don't think I've seen a total of three other Roll-Easys on eBay in all the years I've been a member. This is truly astonishing that so many would turn up at the same time.

And I only know of a handful of collectors who have one. But it looks like three more will have one soon!

My guess is that the bidding is going to go through the roof on all three of them, going by the number of people watching them - but the Grand DeLuxe of them all is the earliest one. It's truly a gem and in absolutely remarkable condition.

Also remarkable is that all three Roll-Easys will be won or lost in a 5 hour span today, Sunday.

Fortunately this time I can watch without stress, as I already have my 3. I don't have an original ribbed hose but as you recall I found a very nice turquoise substitute in a Flo-Bee Pet Clipper Groomer a few years back. For another Roll-Easy that I use as a 'central vac' set on end to rotate on one side wheel I added a 40 foot gray/blue ribbed pool hose - it's perfect for cleaning the car or a once over of the second floor without having to pull the vacuum behind you.

If the Ladies actually tugged & lifted their Roll-Easys about the house as the Manuals indicate that would surely have led to the early splitting demise of original ribbed hoses.

Charles, I haven't seen an original hose...are they wire re-inforced?

On the woven hose subject, one of my R-1s came with the very same woven hose with cream and red tracer but mine is cloth weave; I can clearly see these eBay hoses are vinyl woven. Curiouser and curiouser...
With gray rubber donut gaskets, the handle and the coupler on mine are (were) chrome plated steel with the GE prong button & hook-latch release so I always assumed it was a GE replacement hose for Swiveltops, Roll-Arounds and Roll-Easys, before GE switched to the flatter nylon button and wider catch. It doesn't exactly colour match any of them but is generic enough that it looks ok with any of them. It was in such airtight condition that swapped in aluminum Roll-Easy ends off a white plastic bojack and I pair it with the third R-1.

Looking forward to any light that Tania can shed on this GE hose conundrum.

I left out the Reach-Easy.

Anyway...my triplets.

Good Luck to our VCCC bidders.

It's odd how when one hard to find vacuum is listed on eBay, a couple more get listed days later.

Luckily I won one of them. I initially wanted the earliest version, I was bidding on it today, and was the highest bidder but did not meet the reserve at $236.xx. I bid on the second one from the same seller and did not win. The last one I had luck with, and I think it's a steal considering it's condition and how complete it is. Even if the hose isn't original, that doesn't bother me too much.

Let me be the first to congratulate you Alex, on your patience and tenacity.

An excellent choice with the turquoise cardboard tool caddy and the bonus of the additional first style of flip-over floor nozzle.

It's coming from Chad in Kansas so you know it will be well packed against any transit damage.

Beautiful machines! The first one is the best, but I don't think it's worth what they're asking, even relisted with a buy it now. But we all know they've sold for that and more in days gone by. Funny that two of them are/were located in Cary, NC. That's the last place I worked when I lived in Durham, before I moved to MN. Who knew two rather nice Roll Easys were within a few miles. We have a later model Roll Easy that we keep next to the Pink 1957 Lady Kenmore washer/dryer set. We primarily use it to clean out our lint filters. I need to find some more bags soon..

"Roll Easy Hoses"

Hello Everyone!

FYI, all Roll Easy machines originally had a vinyl hose on them and later were replaced with cloth not only by General Electric but other shops as well.
Marc Turbyfill can attest to that! I have all three machines, but the last model I have needs tools. They all run very well!

Happy Holidays to all!
Tania
