With my Ultimate G Diamond Edition. The box looked a little small when I got it. I was wondering how such a large machine would fit in it. When I opened the box, there was a good amount of packing paper stuffed on top. When I removed this, this is what I found.

Everything was

piled in the box with packing paper on top and on the bottom. Nothing around the handle fork or the mini emptor. Just metal against metal and plastic against metal. I assembled the Kirby and attached the bag. When I looked in the bag, it had a cloth genuine Kirby Hepa filter bag, like the ones I just bought from Bill (A007Kirbyman). Difference is this one included the previous owner's dirt - no additional charge! The outter bag is really clean though. I powered it up and test ran it, and it works like a charm. It could be my imagination, but I think the Tech Drive on this one is even smoother than the one on my G4. Motor sounds good, belt is new, and brushroll looks very clean. I vacuumed the bedroom with it last night, and it did a wonderful job. Now, just to get what I need to give this girl the spa treatment that she so desperately needs.

Congrats. I couldn't love mine any more than I already do. Everytime I use something else for a while and then I go back to my Diamond I am reminded of how superior it is to my others. And most of those are nothing to scoff at.

My newest Kirby is my Kirby G6 2001 Limited Edition, just 2 models behind your Ultimate G Diamond Edition. I have noticed the tech drive is smoother on the G6 than my Kirby G4 80th Anniversary Edition. I think when the G4 came out, they were just starting to iron out the kinks with the tech drive & probably had it perfected by the G5.

Congratulations on the new Kirby, & hope you enjoy it. And please post some pics for us all once it's cleaned up.

Rob

I know what you mean about your Kirby Diamond Edition. I vacuum with other vacuums and it just doesn't seem clean. Even when I use my new Sentria, I always go back to my Diamond....

Tech Drive

Yep. By the time Kirby got the Diamond Edition, they really got Tech Drive right. It doesn't shift as fast, thus giving it a smoother feel. They were also able to eliminate that skipping problem that the G3, especially was prone to. I really like my Diamond G. It's a very nice vacuum.

Tech Drive

To Kirbylux77, I started working in a Kirby shop about 8 or 9 months before the G4 was replaced with the G5. Compared to the Generation 3, the G4 Tech Drive was SO much better. I did a lot of warranty work on G3, and I mean a LOT. The Tech Drive would kick into gear fairly easily, sometimes when the user had the hose on and were cleaning above-floor. That was fixed with the 'split pedel' design. The G3 was plagued with problems. The power switch broke, very easily, where the cord plugged in. The handle pivot assembly's spring wore out very fast. Kirby fixed them for the G4. I have had two G3's, one now lives with my mom, and I replaced every one of the 'problem' parts. And they were much better cleaners for it.
