followed me home. Well, actually I rescued it from the trash. It looked so cold and lonely out there as if no one wanted it anymore. All it's years of hard labor to be sentenced to the curb?

So I took her home and gave her a bath, piece by piece. I washed the bag in the washer and hung it by the furnace to dry. A little elbow grease and polish and she's pretty happy now!

Someday I'll tell her about her cousin, my blue Tradition that my ex put on the curb. But for now.....life is good! =0)

I always thought that was the "ugly duckling" of the Kirby fleet, but I sure am glad you rescued her. It looks like your TLC is paying off too! No Kirby deserves consignment to the curb after years of dutiful service!

Just horrible....

To think that someone would throw a good quality vac out to the curb! I guess some people just have no appreciation for a quality appliance....

Good job on the cleanup! Hopefully this ole girl appreciates her new home

remember years ago a complete Kirby Classic outfit on the curb-was riding the bus home from work-and some other goodies-finished the bus trip and got my cart to pick up the curbed Kirby-someone else must of had the same idaea-the Kirby, attachments and appliances out with it were GONE.Only thing left in the pile was a ripped open trash bag-had old clothes in it-left that behind. That was the only curbed Kirby I had ever seen.

VEry nice

Hi Steve It is truely amazing what people thro out only to replace it with a piece of cheap plastic. Any way your Kirby looks really nice. Is that with the shake out bag or paper bag. I think the shake out bags give the Kirby a lot more air power and more suction. I have many Kirbys I like the g series a lot the g6,and g5 are the ones i like the best. However for Dec i am useing me Heritage 2 ( paper bag)I adjusted the floor brush roll WOW what a differance it almost pushes it self.Ok take care Doug

I agree Doug. I used my Classic 3 this week and I was reminded of the suction and power that the shake out bags have. At the right setting you would almost need a crow bar to pry it off the floor due to the seal.

BUT, when I empty it, I am quickly reminded why I don't use it that often anymore. I do everything possible to reduce the plume of dust including draping a plastic bag around the sani-emtor but to me it is still quite a process.

This is the first vac I bought for myself (refurbished)when I moved out on my own over 22 years ago. I couldn't afford a new Kirby and this was my daily driver for many years.

Chris

Oops. Guess I just posted a pic of a vintage vac in the contemporary section. Guess the topic of the shake out bag got me carried away. Sorry, Chris

Chris you are RIGHT

Hi Chris Looks like a real beauty your Classic. Funny you should say that i used my classic yesterday and could feel it lifting the rug off the floor my Heritage 2 will do that also but not with that power. I will try to take the emptor off the classic and install it on the Heritage 2 and see what happens. Take care Doug

What's that they say

about lipstick on a pig? =0) I agree. The Heritage isn't the best looker out of the group. It's not like feel I must make her wear her bag over her head. NO pun intended. However, it sure looked mighty fine when it was FREE! LoL.....

To answer the questions on the bag, it has the disposable, paper bag system. At first, I thought it was broken. My old Tradition had a clip that locked into place to hold the bag in. This one just fits snug.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I was to excited to start on the project (really....my virgin voyage here) I neglected to take a before shot. =o/
