Can someone tell me about this new machine that is "all original"

What is out of place here??

I emailed the person and asked if they had all the original equipment and was told that the machine is all original.....

Don't want to argue witht he guy but 30 years of collecting cannot be wrong. I even offered to send him the scan of the brochure, as well as a picture of the two I have....

I don't think the bag is original, because he as a Eureka ESP Self Propelled for sale without the original bag either.

The handle? Should it have the rectangular handle?

My guess is that it may have been put together as stated a "display" model vacuum using unused left-over or spare stock parts just so the shop owner could have a display model in the window or something. I don't know, you don't know, we weren't there!! It gets put away and this guy buys it and is now selling it. There's no indication he's lying or anything because remember "you weren't there" There's little point in "pressing a point" any further by sending brochure scans etc which if it was me selling it would make me think you're just being a busybodying know it all.

So that being that, you either bid on it as is or you don't. Plain and simple.

nb: I'm not saying never ask questions but when the person has answered your question as in this case, you've got your answer on which to make your decision.

Me thinks

that the bag is not original and from the appearance of the power cord there is no wire that goes to the power drive switch through the handle. This unit is wired as a one speed upright. And, who knows what else may not be original. Oh well, he tried LOL.

LOL - the answer is right in the ad - it was the display model. Very often, in shops, the display model is robbed of pieces to do warranty or other repairs on machines then the parts replaced when they come in so that the customer isnt kept waiting. I would say that when the replacement parts came in they werent exactly the same as the original.

It is as original as when he bought it

from the guy he got it from. I know this man personally, he is a very good friend. And he said this is exactly the way the machine was when he took it out of the box.And the Eureka self propeled is all original too. It just has a step on switch on the motor hood so it is a single speed machine. So give him a break guys he gives the information that was given to him. And from what I understand he is a new member of this club and I am very proud to call him my friend. He has sold me some terrific vacs... Dan

Lord have mercy, tie me to the stake and burn me....

I love it that everyone has an opinion of the vacuums that I bought at G's Vacuum store in indiana. I stopped to check out the store one day, chatted with the owner and noticed the older vacuums setting around his store. They were anywhere from 20 to 30 years old. He is getting ready to close for a few months and I made him an offer on several of them. He excepted and I brought home the 2 celebrity's, convertable, and the eureka self-propelled. After cleaning the outside of them up, there is not a mark or anything on them, they look, sound, run like new, all of them. Now the celebrity's have a couple of small rust spots on the outside around the tool carriers, but still look great. The interior foam filters were dry rotted, the cords were still wrapped with twist ties. When it was brought up to me after I had posted them that the bag wasn't original I went back to the store and spoke with him and he said that he put it together straight out of the box and never replaced anything on any of them. The only thing was he had sold the most of the tools to the celebrity's. So make your own assements, I have no reason not to believe him. If you don't like them, or worried that they aren't original, don't bid on them. I'm sorry that I joined this club.

after the email you received from me??????

To anyone who wants to read the email that was sent to me I will be more than happy to forward it on to you. Never having heard from "kittengerhoover" before and receiving one of the nastiest emails I have ever gotten from anyone, making accusations at me instead of asking a plain question about the vacuums and being preached to about being an old 30 yr collector of vacuums.

That green 4307 Hoover, that is a Kmart exclusive and the original bag should be a multi green striped pattern. There is no way that a solid white bojack bag came straight out of the box.
