Kirby G4! I ABSOLUTLY CAN NOT WAIT! I have always liked Kirbys and this one is online and at a very good price... factory reconditioned I might add. So, here is my question... What is YOUR opinion on the Kirby G4? Also, what was YOUR favorite Generation series Kirby? Mine is the Gsix. Anyways, look forward to everyone's feedback. Talk soon.

my favorite G series is definitely the G5, the G series are basically mechanically the same, I just really like the burgundy.

and it is a great machine. Also, I just bought (but haven't received yet) an Ultimate G Diamond Edition. According to tracking, it should arrive Friday. I can't wait.

My favorite is the Generation 3. Probably because it is the cleaner that started it all! It was the only Generation without those wacky bag graphics, and after 20 years, the Sentria is virtually the same machine.

G5

The color I think compliments the machine the best!

The Kirby G5 is the most beautiful. The lovely burgundy color goes so wonderfully with the polished aluminum.

You will really enjoy your G4. Congratulations! I do like the look of the G4; however, I'm with scvacuumguy. I really prefer the look of the G5. My favorites are the G4, G5, and G6. I just like the darker colors.

I agree! My aunt had a G6 and then a Sentria, which in my opinion she should've kept the G6, and I loved the G6. But I'm lucky to be getting a G4!!!!!

I guess I'm in the minority......

I had a G4 and never really liked it. I got it used on eBay and it was pristine when it arrived. I found its heft and inconvenience to use tools to be a major drawback. It was a very good cleaner on regular carpeting, but using it on my wool area rugs was difficult. The nozzle would suck to the rug and even with the techdrive it was a beast to push. Adjusting the height helped but didn't clean the rugs...so why bother? I gave it away to another member from the club when I moved a few years ago. I'm glad I satisfied that curiosity, but it just wasn't for me

Area rugs are where the Diamond edition excels with the gentle switch. But all in all, as someone said, it has basically been the same machine for the last 20 years with only minor changes and improvements. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Though I must admit that I sure am curious to see what they are coming out with next.

I agree. They are difficult to push on certin carpets, but on our medium pile rugs, my aunts G6 even without techdrive on was fairly easy to push. It depends on the type of carpeting that you have I guess. I cant wait to see what they come out with either! From what I have read on here it is gonna be a drastic change!

Josh, the G4 Kirby is definitely a good G Series model.

By the time it came into production, a lot of the "new designed series issues" had been addressed by Kirby. And fortunately, Kirby does not sit on their laurels, & have continued to make improvements to a fine product.

My favorite in the G Series, is the Diamond Edition.

jfalberti
Joe, if it's in peak condition, you'll probably like the Diamond Edition more so.

Rick, it's been around for several weeks now. If you weren't running around on vacation all the time, you'd probably be aware of this. ~~lol~~

Seriously though, that's a nice G4 you've got there. Nice condition.

Jim, sorry to hear you had issues with using your G4. Something may not have been right with it inside, as it should've been easy to push regardless of the carpet. If you ever acquire a Kirby again & need assistance, feel free to contact me. Over the years, I've solved similar issues many times.

Cheers & hagd all,

Bill
