Fantastic fortunate find, Charles...the Twingle triumphs once again.
Ignore the twitching teasing Twingle at your peril; here's the proof.
(of course, if you deny the existence of The Twingle you'll never know what you missed, eh? )
May the Twingleforce be with you all...
Dave.

Those of you who have watched the video have seen what a time I had with trying to use the rug tool to vacuum a small rug. The suction is so strong that the nozzle just grabs onto the rug and lifts it from the floor! That really demonstrates not only how powerful the Model XXX is, but also what a perfectly tight seal this original hose has. You just don't find them in this condition anymore!

In a day or two I am going to make a better video, and bring the machine back into Arlee's bedroom which is carpeted, to show that beautiful rug tool in action!

Great find Charles. There is just something so special about the XXX still to this day it is the first image that comes into my mind when I think of the word vacuum.

I have to say, I am really loving this newcomer to Casa Electrolux. It's just so sweet, beautiful and perfect in every way.

While I like the extra features of the XXX, the cordwinder and Companion, I also think the machine really looks its most beautiful and elegant with just the line cord.

The cord winder messes up the perfectly balanced proportions of the machine, and the Companion even more so with the attachments bristling off the top. While these features are very handy, they do ruin the look of the machine, and I actually do prefer the "less is more" approach with the XXX.

An interesting note about the cord (attention Rick Benedikt) ... this machine has the older-style thick cord with the usual Belden ends, but the cord itself is different from other XXX cords of that thickness that I have. They tend to be kinda, hm, how do I describe it ... not stiff, but kinda "tight" if that makes any sense. In other words, they are not really very pliable, feeling more like plastic cords of that thickness than rubber ones.

This cord, however, is very "loose and rubbery feeling," much softer and more resilient than the other XXX cords like it. I am wondering what the difference is with it.

Oh, and by the way, has anyone noticed anything 'odd' about the rug nozzle? I've been waiting for someone to say something!

You got it! Another mystery. Don't know where it could have gone; the bottom bumper is in perfect condition. I do have a couple of spares but may just leave it as it is.

Charles,

As a long-time Model XXX enthusiast and perpetual lurker, I had to come out of hiding to congratulate you on that beautiful Electrolux. There have been a few times when I've seen a XXX in a condition approximating the one you found (mine, which I picked up in 1984 -- cleaner only -- was almost as nice and I spent a few years accumulating the attachments in comparable condition), but it's very rare to find the cleaner and that many attachments in such little-used condition. The bag looks like it was never filled with dirt! I have "hose envy" because I've never seen an original XXX hose in such perfect condition. I've never been happy with the compromise I made on the hose for my XXX. When I got mine in 1984, the Silverado was the current model and its hose matched very closely in color, so I bought one. However, after removing the plastic hose handle and cementing the hose end into an original handle, the hose was barely 5-feet-10" in length, as compared with 7 feet for the original cloth hose!

Thanks again for sharing the pictures and YouTube with us...the sound of a healthy XXX motor is music to the ears!

Best regards and happy 'cuuming,
Doug Elliot

Wow congrats on the great find! Keep the hose in a bank vault!
I guess I got ripped off when I paid $15 for mine. :)
