Hi everyone!

Been away for a while but still busy collecting beautiful vaccuums. And we're very excited about this past weekend's great find: a very early Electrolux XXX with lots of attachments, and in excellent shape!

The first thing we tried to do was look for disposable bags, and after lots of googling and searching the archives here we're still coming up blank! I know there's an aftermarket bag chamber to use newer bags, but aside from that was there any disposable bag made to work with this machine as it is? The vac expert at our local repair shop said that there were paper bags but they've been obsolete for 15 years.

We cleaned the cloth bag very carefully and it's in excellent condition. We did find the Electrolux type C bags and thought we'd give them a try ... they didn't fit at all, but with a lot of scissor-trimming on the cardboard (and trimming ... and trimming) and some duct tape, we managed to retrofit it. But it's clearly not a long-term solution!

Also, anyone know where we might be able to find another power cord that would fit this, and preferably one that's longer than stock? The power cord is in good shape but it does show some signs of age and I don't think it'll hold up to many more years of active use. And say, how about a nice attachment caddy -- where do you find those?

(We'll post some pics soon, promise!)

Hello, the only disposable paper bags ever used in an XXX were/are bojack "Brand X" bags. Electrolux never made paper bags for the Model XXX or any models previously. You're supposed to remove the cloth bag and shake it out.

Electrolux =did= make an adapter for the XXX to allow use of their standard (at the time) cardboard-topped paper bags. I'm not sure exactly when they began offering this conversion setup but I'm guessing mid 1950s. Here are some photos of my "hot-rod" Model XXX with wheel carriage, paper bag conversion and a Super J motor -- that machine ROCKS!! See link for pix & description.

there are a ton of brand X bags for the model 30 here in the local "mom and pop" hardware store here. I am sure I can pick you up some and send them your way. if you are interested I can let you know the total of the bags and shipping it should not be much.

Cord

I ordered my bojack cord from Hesco but I assume vac shops should have them. The cord is 20 or so feet.

...welcome back to the forum.

Did you decide to keep your Kirby 519 as a NIB, or did you end up using it?

If I may ever be of assistance to you with Kirbys or supplies & parts for them, let me know.

Again, welcome back to the fold. ~~lol~~

Cheers & hagd all,

Bill

Hey everyone,

Do the Bojack "Brand X" bags have any other name or part number? I've been looking online and haven't found anyone who sells them ... everyone has the Style C bags for the newer (post '54) canisters. Meanwhile I'm also looking in the local hardware shops.

(Hoover fans ... stay tuned for pics of a GREAT find!)

Just go to your local hardware store and pick up the paper filters for a shop vac...they work perfectly.
