Well...I found two pretty good finds today for less than $15 together: a frankenElectrolux model E/L. This vacuum has a powernozzle port. Is that original for an E or an L?
My second vacuum is a Hoover stick-vac. I don't really know much about it, but it does take bags (which whoever owned it didn't like to use them!!). It works fine.
In fact, both work well. I would like to get some parts for the Lux to make it original. Anyway, examine the pics closely if you wish.

I remember the first time I saw one in this color - we were visiting a rather snooty aunt in South Carolina who really loved to put on the dog - this brand name and that, this country club and that one, fur coats in July, her obnoxious daughter who twirled the baton and rode horses ... you get the picture.
Anyway, she was going on about all her recent acquisitions, bragging as usual, and managed to slip into her prattling conversation "our new Deluxe Electrolux" about a half-dozen times.
Well, of course I was curious about that "Deluxe Electrolux" so I went snooping. I found it in short order, in a large hallway walk-in closet. I snorted when I saw it was the "Economy Electrolux" Model L and NOT the "Deluxe Electrolux" Model 1205! And it did not have the power nozzle or cord winder, just the most bare-bones straight-suction model with a halo!
That was so typical of her. One of my favorite stories about my dad is one time when we were visiting my paternal grandparents in North Carolina when I was about 9 or 10. Mama and Daddy were taking a nap in the front bedroom next to the TV room. Aunt Francis sashayed in, awakened them and coyly purred, "Would y'all please excuse me while I change mah clothes?"
My dad shot back, "Why don't you change your ways while you're at it!"
The two of them never got along at all - my dad is a person of simple, country-boy tastes and ways; Aunt Francis (deceased) was a "high-fallutin, putting on airs" member of the genteel South Carolina high-society set who loathed her "Tobacco Road" roots.
She really was a big phony -- strutted about with all the southern blue-blood royalty but she did not belong to, or come from, that class at all. She was just "poor hillbilly white trash." She got her money and counterfeit blue blood compliments of Her Hubby (whom in true southern form she always called "Daddy"), one of my dad's older brothers, who was a big executive for the McCormick Spice Company. (also deceased) Whenever he'd visit us, he'd come bearing cases of industrial-size jars of spices (which my mom, strictly being a "salt and pepper" cook, never used!)
I don't think my dad and Aunt Francis ever got along, to the day she took her last pseudo-aristocratic breath!
I havet a question for ya: My handle says "E" while the front of the vacuum says "Model L." Can you please explain? Maybe a repairman decided to put a new "E" handle on since the "L" handle broke. Maybe? And what model did that P/N go to? A 1205? It definitely doesn't look like an "L" P/N. And what kind of Hoover is that? Any info on bags? It says "Model S" I think. I think it will be my daily driver for now. It will suit my needs quite well. I think I may can use it (after either a new filter to not let the dust in the motor or just a bag) for vacuuming underneath my bed. It certainly is low enough. Thanks for the story! Your Aunt seemed quite mean. That was a nice retort by your dad that day :-)!!
Hey, Kyle--Excellent Finds! I've got quite a few of the Electrolux Model L's. The handles all say "E" on them--I'd say "E" is for "Electrolux". The Power Nozzle looks to be one for a Super-J, a PN-4. All the Electrolux's from about 1959 onward up to the Golden Jubilee have a Power-Nozzle port on them, some of the remanufactured earlier machines have Power Nozzle Ports. I've got a couple of the "LX" or "60" models, that have Power Nozzle ports on them, and the LX's were made in the early 1950's, before Power Nozzles ever came out. Anyway--You got an excellent deal! Way to Go!
It's ORIGINAL!! (just refering to the vacuum itself) I just need a few screws for the back cord winding place where the exhaust is. I think this will be my daily driver for rugs and hardwoods. I even got (not pictured) two extension wands and the original rug/hard floor tool as well as the brush/upholstery tool. So it was a great deal! $10 for that, $1 for the Hoover. I just wonder how I should get it from New Jersey to Alabama...I guess I can get it packaged for some rough rides and check it as baggage.
Electrolux used that same handle without change (other than color) for the E, S, R, and all the Ls. My understanding is that the "E" stands for "Electrolux" and not "Model E" although when it first came out on the Model E, maybe that was what it stood for then.
When the E-Automatic came out, it had a different handle but still had a large "E" on it, as did the Model Automatic F.
Then when the G came out, the handle was slightly updated with a more "60s pop-art" look and the "E" was done away with. However, the basic shape of the handle was the same since the top of the G is still essentially the same as the E-Automatic and the Automatic F.
(note about the designations of "E-Automatic" and "Automatic F" --- when the Automatic model of the E first came out, it was called the "E-Automatic" in the instruction brochure and other literature. Then when the F came out, it was called just the "F" or the "Automatic F," and by the time the G came out the word "automatic" was dropped from the model designation. More than anyone but me probably cares about!
I am not sure which model that PN is from -- it could be one of several, but I =think= it's from a SuperJ. The hose is a bojack replacement.
I don't know anything about the Hoover stick-sweeper.

The little blue Hoover Quick Broom takes "G" bags. Or is it "E" bags? Anyway, They are still made. There is "F" bags for the longer bodied Quik Brooms. The "G" are for the shorter bodied QB's. The "E" was the for the QB's that had the cassette type thing that the bag fit into. Confused? So am I. These bags are mostly found in Hoover Stores, vacuum shops and at Hardware stores. Not readily available at Target K Mart or the grocery so people tended to just let the vacuum fill or reused the bag. I've seen that happen.
Charles is right about the E on the Lux handles and the PN is for the Super J. I have seen the early blue L's with the matchng blue PN 1 and the later blue L's with the chrome topped PN's.
