This one goes earlier than Oreck
This is the 'grandaddy' of them all. It was made by Whirlpool for Sears (as were many other models). This is what started the whole so-called lightweight upright craze. The most immediate offspring from from this model would be probably have been one of the Whirlpool CVR uprights. The only one of those I ever owned was the CVR 2000 in black and white with a houndstooth print on the vinyl bag. I sure wish I had it now. |

Veg, I think Whirlpool did make this vacuum. I have the Whirlpool CVR 2000 that John mentioned also.

It does seem very much like the Whirlpool CVR series. But how could this be 1970? Whirlpool sold the plant to Oreck in 1963. The powerhead looks nothing like the Oreck XL-4000 being produced (in Germany) at that time. It would seem as if maybe the Whirlpool design was purchased by someone else to produce this Kenmore. This machine looks like a hard-body, and both the Whirlpool and Oreck were soft-body machines.
