hello, I have a problem: well, it's not a big problem, but it's a problem.(Citation from Liza with a z)
Last friday I came back from mother's house, where I have my collection, and I brought with me a Hoover Senior U 652 A (maybe you can see it in one of the shots of my collection, It's the white/light blue one...
Well, my house in Milan is a large flat at the fifth floor, mostly carpeted. nobody wals in with shoes. I vacuum everyday, sometimes twice a day (me or the maid) with a kirby g six or with the Vorwerk k 135 or with a Sebo Automatic X 3, you know when you collect vacuums it's very hard to choose before vacuuming.
I also wash the carpet very frequently with a powerful carpet extractor or with a Rotowash if I have to do a small area.
Well that damn Convertible has picked up a lot of mess from my sparking white carpet.and I'm angry. I've decided that no upright cleaner is better than the old convertibles. I've just finished fitting a fresh kirby hepa bag on it and I think that an old hoover convertible(doesn't matter which one will always be my mate in cleaning;-)
P.S.: I'm scanning another brochure!

thanks

Tommy, my thanks to you for being a part of the VCCC. I had
traveled in Europe and Britton as young man back in the 60's.
I was fortunate enough to connect with friends of family and
a former exchange student in several countries. So I got into
some homes/apts. and checked out some vacuums. It was great
sloothing. Plus watching in store windows for clues of vacuum
differences (Hoover/lux) from our American made models.
So again thanks for sharing and being a part of intert group.

Tommy...I would agree with you about the effectiveness of the Convertible series. I assume that you are speaking of the traditional "Senior" or US "Convertible" series and not the Dial A Matic. I use a model 1070 in my home and just love the job it does. It not only grooms my rug but pulls a lot of dirt out of the carpet. I also vacuum daily sometimes twice a day as I have a two year old and a cocker spaniel. We never take off our shoes so I have to vacuum a lot. No big deal and I enjoy it. The Convertible is easy to use and it works. I change the bag once a week and I always have plenty of suction. The best part is that my machine was FREE! It was in a pile of junk so I grabbed it and cleaned it up. I did add a new longer cord. It is a very tried and true design that was copied many times over by other companies. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Convertible.

to Bruce:
Thank you very much!
to Tom:
I use to buy old vacuum cleaners for very little money, so I'm happy too.
I would have no problem in changing bags very frequently, but I'm allergic so I can't use standard bags and standard vacuum cleaners for long... I found thet using kirbybags on old vacuum cleaners works fine, filtration is greatly improved and airflow is fine, especially with the new kirby bags in polipropylene!
