Here is the first image of a robot I am building - literally from the ground up. Compact feet (thank you, Byron O'Dowd), Air-Way 88 lower legs. The thighs will be another pair of compacts. Then, then - stay tuned.

Interesting...
I did not know there were two different two-tone turquoise (boy, try to say that a dozen times in a row real fast, haha!) AirWay 88s. I know there's an 88 Mark II but the one I have is turquoise and white. |

While we are on the subject of Air-Way 88's...
What was different about the 88 and the 88 Mark II? I see the inside is a tad different (from the photos above), but I don't see the point (unless it is marketing) of 2 practically identical vacuums. I think the Kirby Classic and the Kirby Classic Omega falls under the same category as limited design changes!! Same color (about...). Brown will be brown, as torquoise will be turquoise. Haha...oh well... |

Wow -this is going to be scary! Have you worked out the body and head yet? Can't wait to see more. What did you use for the ankle and knee "joints"?

Pelvis Added - Need Green Torso
I have added a pelvis which is an inverted toaster/oven. As indicated in the link to thread below, I am interested in acquiring a green torso. Thoughts? CLICK HERE TO GO TO Rocketwarrior's LINK![]() |

Klaatu Barada Nikto
Okay, so this is a nasty time in this project. I am tired and irritable (we both are - smile). I am designing as I go, trial and error. The arms will be "fleshed out." - that's my gove, not his that he is waiving with; there is structural work to be done and a lot of "dress" feature to do. The robot is now 90 inches tall - he might get a little shorter depending on what I do at the waist - might cut those silver things from dryers down and add a donut/swivel at the pelvis. He might get a little taller if I add something to his head. I am thinkng about that aluminum frame that stabilizes the vac motor armatures and maybe a plume. I gotta quit for awhile, though. So creative - I would never have thought of some of these things - what a great use for the cast-offs and unwanted "junk."

December 17 Status Report
I have been busy and a little gumption trapped on this robot, but some progress is being made. My muse hasn't provided me with what I need to "flesh out" the arms. More to come. ![]() |

An idea...
Since the balance of this machine is a "Vision in Turquoise," why not make the head turquoise as well. You have a variety of choices -- there was a turqoise Royal canister, then the Kington - see attached photo - then there's the one that uses water like a Rainbow -- the WaterMatic or some-such?? And wasn't there a turquoise Silver King?

I meant KINGSTON of course (above)
for the arms ... how about the plastic power nozzle wand sheaths from the late Electrolux 1205 & L?
