I love this section of the site. The old Hoovers have a great sound. I hope more people will post videos of their vintage vacuums running. I would love to hear an old Hoover constellation and a Lux G. I have never heard these machines running. I have been told they are very quiet. Keep them coming. Tim

We Are Working on More

Jeff is going to bring over his video camera and we will get the Lux G and old Connie for you. We have to run that beast the Bison. Any others?

The Bison

That is a loud one.

More? sure

I love the sound of vintage vacuums. What about these? XXX, Compact, Airway, 3.5 Eureka. Just put as many as you want in there. I'm sure we will all enjoy seeing/hearing them. Tim

NSS "Pigs" Rule!!-have threee of 'em.The newest ones are black in color.they also have a diffrent logo.The NSS "Horse" logo is gone-as well as the blue colored bags.The new bags are black-and made out of a fabric similar to what Kirby outer bags are made from.The "pig" has a surprizingly "soft" sound compared to other vacuums-it has a giant single stage suction fan and a slow turning motor.built to last DECADES!

Post# 653-9/5/2006-20:34 ||| Timborow (Georgia)

So

When do you think some of these vacuums will be in the "see it clean" section? I can't wait. I am so excited. Tim

Any more pics of the other side and how it works??

Mike

I Think

those pig vacuums are used in industry situations and theatres. That is the only place I have seen them anyway.

Has anyone got any videos to put in see it clean?

Hey there, Simon!

You seem to have been M.I.A for a while - how's everything going?? Still loving your site - it was a big inspiration for me when I was making mine!

Thanks Jack

A combination of moving house, shedloads of overtime and going back to narrowband have kept me quiet!

I admire your dedication to the pre-war beasties - must be one of the best collections of those in the UK!

Thanks Simon! It seems my mission is to preserve the history of the pre-war Hoovers, since no one else in the UK seems to be as obsessed with this era of Hoover cleaners as I am! I can trace it back to 1991, when, aged about 6, I went to the 'Hoover in Britain' exhibition at the Design Museum in London. They had several pre-war vacs on show, even a Model O, and I'd never seen cleaners that old before...they seemed so mysterious and interesting, and I never dreamed back then that one day I'd come to own so many of them!

And now, as BB's Chantelle would put it 'I'm livin' the dream!'

Post# 790-9/7/2006-16:45 ||| vintagehoover (Surrey, England)

Oh, and getting back to the original topic...

Very impressed with how quiet the Model O is - how amazing it still runs so smoothly at 96 years old! My Model 543 isn't much louder - the video on my website doesn't do it justice due to the crap webcam microphone!

And I'm insanely jealous of that unused Model 800!

NSS Pig

Mike here is the other side of it. The Pig is a commercial canister that is used in Theaters,Schools, hospitals,office buildings. It is awsome vacuum cleaner, it really works well.
but there are very expensive new. I was lucky I got mine off ebay for a mere 19.99 but it didn't have the hose adaptor, the hose or any attachments. I had to order the hose adaptor from NSS but got the hose and attachments from Jon-Don for a very good price. In all My pig cost me 170.99 which isn't bad at all.

NSS Pig

Hey Mike there are some Pigs that actually have a power nozzle with them. I have never seen one with a p/n but Rex has 3 of them and I'm most certain He has at least one model with the power nozzle. the ones with the power nozzle has the plug outlet just above the switch as I was told.

Post# 850-9/8/2006-03:14 ||| tolivac (Greenville,NC)

Yes,one of my "pigs" has the "pigtail" cord for the powernozzle.The NSS powernozzle is also meant to be used with other NSS vacuums.the powernozzle is a disappointemnt though.Its narrow neck cuts off the powerful airflow of the pig.but it does work.Its kinda neat to use.When you aorder the M1 nowadays-the salesman will ask you if you want the version with the pigtail plug for the powernozzle or the one without it.I rigged my powernozzle with a long cord-and plug it into another outlet-I can then use it with my other "pigs".The nozzle came with cord "clips" so you can clip the cord to the M1 hose or another NSS vacuum.the "Designer Dry" model.Its a small machine that has a 5Gal tank looks like a small wet-dry vac-but as the name implies-used for DRY pickup only-doesn't have the water ball valve in it.It can be ordered with a plastic or SS drum.Beleive they sell bags for it as well.saw one used at the Circiut City store here-and with the same PN I have.I want to try the NSS powernozzle with my "Pro-Vac" backpack vac.

Still excited

I just want to say that I love this website. I am so excited about all you putting your vacuums in the "See it Clean" section. I love all the Hoovers, but I still would love to see some old Luxes and others. Tim
