Can anyone help me figure out the model number/name of a Eureka upright from the late 40's possible early 50's? All I remember was it was shiny, all metal with a bell-shaped nozzle (like Kirby or Royal), had a handle release pedal, power switch mounted on the handle. The switch was 2 speed and had a small black Bakelite knob on the end of it. Does this sound vaguely familiar to anyone?

Old Eureka upright

Funny, I was thinking about a certain old Eureka myself. Well, I =think= it was a Eureka but don't know why, I guess someone must have told me so somewhere along the way.

I only saw it once, in the garage of a neighboring house in Hampton Virginia. This would have been some time between 1958 and 1960.

The only thing I really remember about it was that the metal base was entirely maroon in color -- not maroon with a gray hood so it was not a Hoover 62 -- and I think the bag was gray cloth. It SEEEMS that it had an off-white handle.

Does this machine ring a bell with anyone?
