Here they are...some Hoover finds...there were a lot of garage sales this weekend so I picked up all of the Hoovers available. The Hoover Portable is the second of these models produced with the cord reel circa 1966. It features the longer hose too. It was like brand new "under the hood" and runs like new too. I found this polisher circa 1975 complete with box and it too is like new. The find of finds was this all original polisher 0215 circa 1955 and was only built for a year. I really like the maroon color scheme. The light even works! The light through the grille is very unusual. This machine was built in England and used the wooden backed brushes. Lastly was the Hoover Convertible "RS" which was Hoovers last residential Convertible circa 1992. It has the top fill bag and has two carpet positions. It was a base model to be sure but this one is in very good shape and has been very lightly used. Not pictured is the model 42 I found at another sale complete with hose tools and extra bags.

It has been a great weekend Hoover wise here...they just sort of fell out of the sky or so it seems...It will be hard to beat another weekend like this one. Oh...yeah all of it was CHEAP! Another benefit of the American garage sale.

VERY nice finds- our version of the polisher looked identical and was model 0212. The shampooer is a great find also as is the Portable :)- hell the Convertible is as well lol!

Maybe a pic of a 65 and the RS side by side - first and last as it were????

Here is the first of the Convertible series and the last of the series. The "RS" in the photo is 33,000 into production with a date of 12/91. The model 65 Convertible is a later one, probably '58 or '59 as it has the two piece handle. There are some similarities...each has a two position carpet adjustment and each is a shade of red...they are basically the same technology except for materials of course. The RS is much lighter weight. Enjoy the pic!

I didn't know that Hoover made convertibles into the 1990's. Were these sold at big box stores, or only Hoover dealers. I don't remember seeing any around here in the 90's. I worked for a small department store in the late 80's and early 90's. We were a big time Hoover dealer until 1987, when we stopped carrying appliances. Wal-Mart opened and started selling the newer style all plastic Hoovers. We couldn't compete. Tim

Tim...I remember these RS machines at our True Value in Hartville, OH who carried everything Hoover. A good friend of ours purchased one in late 1992 and used it until his death in 1993. I always liked the color combo and the "cloth" bag. This was a very basic cleaner and it used the plastic bottom plate. This one does not have a beater bar but rather the two brush agitator.

i had an RS just like that too. didnt they have a full hood model called heavy duty 700 in the 90s too?

Swingette...yes they had the "Convertible 700" and the Decade 800 too and they were phased out along with this RS model which was just a base model.

Terry...yes this was quite a sale. These come along once or twice a summer, but this summer has been unusually good for sales in my area. The maroon polisher is in the colors of the model 29 which was long out of production by 1955. I have been searching for this one for awhile. I have the first polisher from 1950 which is model 61 brown. It does not have the grille over the headlight. This one has the switch on the base not the handle and has two Hoover logos...one on the handle embossed and one on the lens grille cover. Now if I can just find the wood backed brushes I will be in business.
