That's Dr. Samuel Hoffman, who did all the great Hollywood soundtracks in the 40s and 50s -- Spellbound, The Lost Weekend, The Day the Earth Stood Still, etc.

"You Were Meant For Me" was that piece on the program, even I thought it left a lot to be desired, since it was popular music. One of the accompanying YouTube videos has a lady thereminist playing "Clare de Lune", which is one of my favorite classical pieces. I'm going to try that out later. I thought you'd know who Samuel Hoffman was, and I will read the article all the way through. |
