I can't remember were i saw the thread on the site about a giant Hoover mockup that was for sale on E-bay. But i ran across this picture and thought everyone might like to see it. Evidently Hoover actually made a working model of one of these huge beasts. I would love to know whatever became of it.

This is what became of it...

It's the same thing! They must of had a fleet of these!

I would guess, based on the window in front of the agiataor, that this is the same one in the b&w photo you posted above...

I bet in the 60s, they scrapped the model 28 hood, made something a bit more current, and gave them a paint job.

Very cool, indeed.

Jeff sent me this picture a few years back.. I believe it was taken at the Company's 95th anniversary party... held at the Historical Center. Notice also, the Giant Convertible.

Are you sure its a giant Hoover and not just a midget Munchkin or someone from the Lollipop Guild demonstrating it?

Fred...

Thanks for posting the photo of the two large units that were at the Historical Center here in North Canton back in '03. It is hard to imagine the size of these machines. The one on the left had been updated, but the one on the right was from 1977. They both had working lights (flourescent)and working agitators and suction motors. They sounded a lot like a furnace fan blowing! These were kept in a warehouse and "ordered" for certain occasions over the years. Originally, dealers could use them at store openings, etc. They were also used in parades. Talk about building brand recognition! They were first built in the 1920's. I know of a black and white photo of Boss Hoover and a 700 looking model set at Hoover Park during one of the "Conventions". Wouldn't it be great to have one of these for the VCCC convention in August????
