Was just reading this in my local paper. Are we going to have to start making people pass a test before they can buy or use a vacuum? CLICK HERE TO GO TO electrogirl's LINK |

You got a liscense for that thing, boy? What will it take anyway? A house a couple of blocks from here had a grease fire on the stove. The woman put it out with a fire extinguisher, and she and her mother proceeded to clean the stove with the vacuum cleaner. Happier ending for the house, vacuum cleaner-not so sure. People are funky. |

At one vacuum store I hung out and helpted at a buyer buys a new Sharp upright vac and then uses it to vacuum their fireplace.the vacuum just about catches fire and alerts the owner. He brought the vac is for "service"Fix the melted-burned housing?Anyway the vac shop owner replaces the burnt vacuum under warratee and displays the burnt one in his store lobby under-"how to misuse your vacuum"It was so melted you could not open the front bag coveer to get at the bag.And the motor housing was melted too. |

What a retard who the hell would ves a vacuum to clean up embers or even a fireplace. How Stupid I thought the Shovel that came with the fire place was for that. |

Or, at least wait until the embers are dead!! We use a shop vac AFTER we get most of it, just to keep our fire place looking nice. We have (I think) a Ryobi shop vac...but I'm not certain of this. Anyways...just my $.02!

I have vacuumed fireplaces with a Royal upright,My NSS M1,and a Kirby G type machine-removed the paper bags in each case and placed them outside in a metal can waiting for trash pickup or taken to the dump.didn't leave the bag in the vacuum or in the house.I have a Soot vacuum I bought from ReTool and it says right on the machines metal bag container-"remove bag after use"Looked like the machine was used by a chimney sweep or someone who cleaned boiler tubes. |

I won't even say what I'm thinking. I don't think they were collectors though, not that it makes any difference. |
