Do any of you enjoy collecting toy trains? Feel free to share. . .

I have a Lionel set, and I have done a lot of repairing for my next-door neighbor's American Flyers and his old Lionels. I was able to learn from a local repairman who actually graduated from my school's second year! Anyways...I can't say I have any pictures of mine or my neighbors, but I have enjoyed working on all of those trains!

I forgot to mention...I fully restored his layout as well. That track needed a lot of work...sanding and pin repairing. Those stinking American Flyer pins break so easily!

What I used to lay down at Christmastime through 4 rooms of the main floor.

This is the basic setup used from 1999 through 2005. After the track & switches were tyotally de-bugged for reliable automatic operation, the buildings and accesories were added.

Cat's Eye view.

What the cats see as they chase the trains. Best video ever is when I mounted an 8mm camcorder to a flatbed car and set it recording.

After 2005 there were too many pianos and organ parts around the main floor so the layout was reconfigured to fit 4 lines on a modular table 9 feet x 5 feet. It gets pieced together on the kitchen table.

I sent Kyle the mpeg movie of this table layout - but I don't know how to post it to utube.

...Besides which I am currently in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan having a micro meet with Doug Smith. Haveing too much fun to be online often.

Marx 027

Although I don't have a permanent layout, and haven't even set it up for quite a few years, I do have an 027 gauge Marx train set that's about 48 years old. Got it for Christmas when I was 3. It's a New York Central steam outfit with engine, tender, crane, gondola, and caboose. A few years later my Dad got me more track, a water tower, X piece (for figure 8 setup), and remote control switches. Still have the original box and accessory catalog, too.

I can't wait to see movies of these things, or photos. I never actually got into model trains, but I loved train travel, and I would love to try it again if Amtrack is still running and safe!

Don't know how I overlooked this thread!

I have been into toy trains since 1972 when I received my first set (Marx Big Rail) at the age of 6.

Thanks to Ebay I have been able to find lots of New Old Stock Marx & Lionel trains from the 40's to mid 70's. Most of my collection is 0 gauge, have a few Marx HO pieces.

At the momment, everything is stored in file boxes and the boxed sets are stored in large trash bags to keep out sunlight & dust. When I get more organized here I will upload photos of my favorites.
