Pete, I'm in my favorite Super8 in Merrillville, Indiana on the border with Illinois. Tomorrow booting it to Minneapolis where I can relax a bit...maybe. Gotta get to Winnipeg fast. I can relax & take my time thrifting on the return home in a few weeks. :-) Dave |

Yes, Congratulations!!!!
Now you'll have plenty of room for your vacs. I'm so happy for you! I know what stairs can do to body after wash day etc. But enough about you!!! Once I lived in an apartment (second floor) and the fuses for the electric service was in the basement. The downstairs tenant had the only access to the basement. Once he was on vacation and did not leave a key. I had to break in to his place. Oh! what fun! Glad those days are over! |

Congratulations, Debbie!
I'm sure you'll enjoy having more space and the closest neighbor being across the yard. And yes, even at best moving is a big, tiresome job, but it's worth it when you breathe that sigh of relief and feel the sense of accomplishment when you're finished.

Debbie, did you think
about mowing the lawn, trimming the hedge, shoveling the snow? Maybe there's time to reconsider!!!! HAHAHA!!! |

I thought of that too, but I didn't want to discourage her. I think her assets will outweigh her liabilities. |

Mowing the lawn is probably my favorite household chore. I find it very relaxing and actually look forward to doing it. It's one of those love it or hate it activities, the neighbor on the right told me how much he despises it and the one on my left she's like me. Overall though I'd guess most people don't like it from the vast number in my neighborhood who have lawn mowing services doing it for them. |

I haven't mowed all of my yard since my car accident. I'm going to start again really soon, as the neighbors have quit rider mowing it for me. |

I love household chores!
I just love doing household chores. Dirty things to clean. Broken things to fixed. Overgrown lawn to manicured lawn. It is all totally under my control, I don't have to wait for an email back from someone or a phone call or god forbid, a decision from HQ in order to finsih these tasks. I think I would explode without these simple, self-gratifying tasks.

oh boy
Mowing... I'll call the nearest man to do that. I'll bring cookies and lemonade out to him when he needs a break. The loud noise, the sweating... no thanks! Now watching him through the kitchen window, witha mamosa in one hand... that's more my cuppa tea! Sometimes I'm glad I live in an apartment... sometimes!

Did You Say There's a Lawn-Boy in the Garage?
Then you're all set!! They are--or were--the best mower money can buy, although you couldn't pay me to get one of the current models. Everything that made a Lawn-Boy a Lawn-Boy is missing in the new models. As long as the one in the garage has the staggered wheel deck and a 2 cycle engine you'll be OK. The BEST ones, in my opinion, were built between 30 and 50 years ago.

Congrats Debbie
You will love owning your own home,I lived in a third floor apt. also, for four years before buying a house, the stairs kept me in shape, but other things got me bent out of shape like noisy neighbors, lawn people mowing at like 7am and blowing grass and dirt all over my cars, downstairs neighbors barking dog and BBQing on the patio with a wood ceiling, the smell of cigarette smoke through my a/c vents, they would turn the water off for repairs with no notice, the worst thing was the day they decided to replace the second and third floor walkways,I was stuck in the apt. all day,if I would have opened the door to step out it would have been a three story drop. The Lawn boy is a great mower,A friend gave me one that hadn't been used in ten years,I cleaned the carb. and it runs great,It's self propelled,so I can do the whole yard without getting tired,I have an old Sunbeam twin blade electric as a back up.I used it last time,I didn't have gas and oil for the Lawn Boy,so the yard is half done, when I get tired and the Sunbeam smells hot we quit. Mowing my yard is the only yard job I like doing-its kinda like vacuuming a GIANT carpet.I have a newer Toro mower and I don't like it as much as a Toro I used to have.I like the Lawn Boy I used to have-was last of the 2 cycle ones.I had to sell it when I moved. It was hard to start-but once going its was unstoppable until it ran out of gas.Would like another-but older mowers in this area are rare-they used to death or rust and corrode away.I also liked Kee mowers they are popular in the South.I had one but it too got stolen. Its motor was hard to start(B&S)but once it got going did very well.I also used to ahve a Snapper rider-these are pretty nice.Put the mulch adaptor and Gator blade on it and tons of leaves, pine straw disappear without the grass catcher. At present I "mow" my yard to grind and shred the leaves and pine needles. |

hey there
So, when's the big day... when do you take posession of the house? Does this mean that you are no longer going to be a renter? If you're renting the house or paying the mortgage either way, I know your daily life will be much imporoved over living in an apartment. |
