the Nativity

We have blue spot lights on this... makes it look funky in the pictures, but very nice in real life. Notice I snuck an extra character into the navity...my little angle...LOL

Post# 26020-12/5/2007-19:11 ||| vinvac (Dubuque IA)

and finally the tree... there are 2800 lights on this tree. Notice the reflection of the blue lights from the nativity on the silver ornaments...

Superb decorating everyone. I haven't begun anything yet and seeing those I don't think I'll want to post mine

Mom's Tree

Here is the tree at my folks house. My Mom changed the color's to blue and silver. The lights are on but they didn't show up. I think it's because there are not 2800 of them. (wink)

Morgan! That is one beautiful tree!!! Mark outdid himself!! Did you help?

Kenny! I LOVE that vacuum salesman! Where did you get it? Dept 56?

Pete! Come on! We want pix!!!

Charlie Brown tree

We keep a little tree in the family room because thats where all hang out. It has all the homemade decorations we made over the years in school. The angel was made by my sister when she was in the first grade and has one yarn hair left. My sister who is now 32 gets embarrassed everytime we make a fuss over our Christmas Angel. Mom refuses to throw it out! Some of the other ornaments are all that is left from the 60's and 70's that haven't broken. And there are ones with our pictures on them.

Me

This is me! I have an ornament all my own. The hair was blonde but a sharpie pen took care of that! My brother says it needs a touch up with white out at the temples! Hummph!

Christmas Decorations !

Hi Everyone !
Morgan....Many Thanks for posting our photos! Your tree is awesome! 2800 lights would be incredible!
Marty....Jill's been collecting Dept. 56 for many years. The vacuum salesman is probably about five years old, but you may still be able to find it.
One of my patient's gave me the Hoover ornament, which belonged to her Mother, who had retired from Hoover in North Canton after 40 years.
I love the Holiday photos, so I hope this thread continues throughout the Season!

Did any of you, like me, of the older set, used to make those construction paper chains (garlands) for the Christmas tree when you were small, or string popcorn. We never did the popcorn stringing but made the paper chains.

Thanks for sharing...

It's wonderful to see how everyone decorates for the holidays. Marty, I love your mom's blue and silver ornaments. It reminds me of the trees we had when I was a child.

Post# 26060-12/6/2007-00:14 ||| eluxomarty (Palm Springs CA)

I did!

In school we made construction paper chains in red and green. I remember stringing elbow macaroni as garland. I once made a wreath from a piece of cardboard cut into a wreath. I glued different shaped pasta onto it and in alphabet pasta ( which i can't find anymore!) I spelled out Happy Birthday Jesus at the bottom. I then spray painted the whole thing with gold spray paint! I don't even know if we have it anymore. It lost alot of pasta the last time i saw it which was years ago.

Oh and that other Christmas decoration I just remembered..
The IBM punch card wreaths.
You cut a circle of cardboard about 12 in. diameter.
Then you took used IBM punch cards, the more holes the better, and folded the two corners of one end into a point and stapled the point down.
Once you had about 50 or so of these depending on the size of the wreath to be made you lay the cards down overlapping in a circular fashion on the cardboard and stapled them to the cardboard to make a wreath which you then spray painted gold or silver etc.
Anyone remember those?

Christmas Decorations !

WOW ! What great decorations, guys ! Your trees are all beautiful ! Can't wait to see yours, Pete ! It was very nice last year !
Can't wait to see Buffalo Joe's vintage display. Remember it with the Hoover model 28 under the tree. It was just like a Hoover Christmas ad from 1948 ! I loved it !
Terry, your place looks beautiful and the tree is outstanding !
Marty.....Jill just loves your Mom's village ! Thanks for giving her more ideas! Now, I'm really in trouble!
Let's keep this thread going.....Can't wait to see more decorations ! Really puts you in the mood!

Congrats Terry...

Terry,

Congratulations on learning how to post pictures to the site. You've raised the bar and our expectations. We expect to see more of your beautiful new home.

By the way, your home is gorgeous! Can't wait to see it in person. You've been far too modest. It looks like you have done a lot more decorating than you led us to believe. It's stunning, simply stunning. And, the tree is beautiful too. Congrats again.

Mike
