Other than the A bag being a little longer and thinner than the Z bag.
When I bought my PowerMax new it came with A bags and that's what it said to use and I've used all these years. As well I use them in the Concept.

The Z bag shows a picture of the the PowerMax upright types on the package.. So what gives?

You're exactly right.. The difference between them is only about 4 or 5 inches.

In fact the A, Y, and Z bag will all fit the same machines--its the length that varies. I wouldn't want to use a type Z or Y in a machine that's supposed to take a type A bag (newer than a Convertible), as I would think the bag may burst from the tremendous amount of airflow.

Snap a picture of your package of Z bags; it could have been a misprint... otherwise, I remember the 'Dimension' (Glorified Elite), or the Power Drive (Power Drive Elite) being on the package for Z bags...

It's not the powerdrive on the front but on the back of the package it states

I think Hoover probably recycled the 'Power Max' name...
Or maybe they re-used the 'Power Max' name on some sort of Elite type of machine up in Canada... I notice that your package of bags was distributed by Hoover Canada, where ours here were just distributed by Hoover US. Difference in packaging?
