All this fell, or rather blew in, overnight onto green grass. Was below freezing and got about 14"of fluffy nice stuff. This morning it got mild above freezing, turned to misty rain and it compacted like a fallen souffle, with a soild crust of ice on top. Very heavy. Naturally the snow plows had been through at dawn, for which I applaud our City Crews.

Moved the kitchen table to the washed north side, hauled the snowblower out of the basement across the still dirty floor and started carving a path to the garage for more gas. Thus fortified, spent the next hour opening up the driveway, got the car out, hauled the lawnmower to the basement. Will now go out and do Sunday things like lunch and groceries so when I get back I won't have to go outside again today and can start the laundry and finish washing & waxing the rest of kitchen floor with the new toys.

Anyone else get hit with this storm system? Tomorrow also rainy but goes sub zero and more sideways snow as the second system passes through on Tuesday. My guess is I ain't leaving for Winnipeg until Wednesday, Thursday even.

Nice straight lines. Its like plowing through wet iceing sugar 6" at a time. :-( That's today's workout done.

Well we got about 1/4 inch of heavy wet stuff but it's melting pretty good now.

Let it snow...

Here in Western NJ we did not get the 4-6" of snow that they predicted, which was a bummer. I love snow! We did get enough for me to try out my latest tractor 'sessory as I like to call them. That would be an "impliment" in proper farmer speak. I should be able to do the driveway now in three or four passes. Glad I got to try it today because I spent all day yesterday putting it together, took forever! But my time is free, vs. the crack team at our local New Holland dealer. Saved myself about $300 in labor and I only had to run down the road to my farmer next door for help once! I didn't have a 33mm wrench or socket, just my normal size people tools. He of course had it and was even nice enough to tighten my bolt for me. I'm all set for this winter. Oh and, excuse my rather functional outfit, its not like I was headed to the slopes or anything, just staying warm. It was cold, 19 degrees when we went out for our Sunday breakfast today, been slowly warming up, still only 27 and now its raining, freezing rain, everything is getting crusty. Hope we don't loose power, cause I still haven't convinced HH (his highness) my other half that we need a generator. Well, not just a generator, I want an auxillary power system. I'm sure I'll get it after we loose power and the hot tub freezeth over one day. Oh, and now... here is my new toy!

Love the tractor, one of those or a JD was going to be my next when the old Craftsman died (but it never did) but alas we left the "farm" last year and now live in town. I gifted it to our neighbors when we left. They already had a big commercial parks type lawnmower with cab but it was too big for round the house and couldn't pull a little dumping trailer.
What I can't figure out is how His Highness is over at your place when he's been here all day. Not once in all the years we lived in the country did my HH ever deign to go out and use the snowblower.

Some folks like to drive the Big Boy Power Tools and some just like to watch their little boys make damned fools of themselves. :-)

Can always count on the other half to keep us humble. But damn we keep 'em laughing. :-)
