What vacuum commercials do you remember? I don't have cable now, but I do remember a few from my childhood...

The Eureka commercial where the end had a lady flying on the vacuum handle and the someone said, "Eureka, sweeps you off your feet." I think it had an underside view of two vacuums, and showed that the Eureka picked up the debris better/faster than the other cleaner.

The Regina Housekeeper commercial... the machine was blue, and I *think* I remember it sucking up metal balls in the hose, but I could be mixing that detail up from another commercial.

The Dirt Devil commercial that "put the power of an upright in the palm of your hand"... it showed an upright becoming an hand vac while someone was holding it.

An early to mid nineties Hoover commercial... the daughter vacuumed the room and the mom was just coming in. It was a self-propelled machine quite before Windtunnels... the son ran over and grabbed the vacuum so the mom thought he had done it... I may have the son and daugher roles mixed up, but that's what I remember.

The most recent one I remember was for the Kenmore Magic Blue... which at the time I was selling at Sears and was quite sick of that commercial.

I used to adore watching the Fantom infomercials as a teenager. I hated the Oreck commercials.

Anyone else remember those? Any others?

Yes, I remember vividly the commercial for the Hoover Dimension canister which started off showing a 1908 Hoover model "O." IIRC they said "the 1908 Hoover was strong enough to pick up cat hair, the new Hoover Dimension is strong enough to pick up a brick."
I remember the Regina Housekeeper Plus commercial as well. "Housekeeper Plus picks up nuts, the Housekeeper Plus picks up bolts, the Housekeeper Plus picks up nuts and bolts." The Housekeeper Plus we used to have at work couldn't pick up anything.
One of my all-time favs was a Geico commercial from a few years ago, showing a "doctored" Kirby 500 series sucking up hundred dollar bills.
Just out of curiosity, any particular reason you hated the Oreck commercials?

The Dirt Devil hand vac commercial with Santa is a personal favorite of mine. Most Christmas appliance ads are cool, especialy from the early to mid 90s when I was quite young.

hhhmmm

I think the bowling balls in the Oreck commercials just drove me crazy. I remember thinking, I sure hope it comes with that attachment so I can vacuum bowling balls up. Otherswise it's false advertising. And, I want the bowling ball too! I don't bowl, but that is how it was represented!

favorite vacuum commercials

When I was very small I remember Art Linkletter showing the Hoover Convertable and demonstrating how the motor speeds up to give you 50% more power for the cleaning tools. He would hold the microphone close to the machine so you could hear the motor speed up. They had the machines on a card and showed both the Special and Deluxe models with the tol set in the center.
We also had a local show that would pull the curtain back and show a prize. It was a Air-Way 88 Sanitizor. They showed the Air-Way every day and the give away was always on Friday.
We also had a small section of the 500 Speedway being cleaned by Filter Queens in the 1950's. The picture was in the paper.

my memories

I remember the eureka where lady lady was being carried away. It was always one of my favorites. Also do you remember the Hoover song? (hoover, nobody does it like you)One more thing, do any of you remember in the early 90's Bob Barker always had a eureka hot shot (red upright)(f & g bagged)in the show to to have the price guessed?

I remember watching the Fantom infomercials when I was 4 years old and begging my parents to get me one.
P.S. Phill/kirbyertibles check your email as there is one from me regarding a certain Hoover.

I guess my favorite is a late '60s Eureka commercial that was or is on YouTube, where the women are all done up in their futuristic 21st century Mod frocks and headgear. And the Reach-Easy commercial on our site and also on YouTube.

Eureka

I remember the one with the dirt hiding down deep in the shag carpet and the one says to another they won't get us down here, then along comes the Eureka

Fantom

I remember those Fantom infomercials, I had a Fantom Thunder that was a really good vacuum, some other vacuum came along that I liked better,I wasn't collecting at the time so I sold it in a garage sale,I have a Fantom Fury in the garage thats clogged up,what model was first, the thunder or the fury, I can't remember, what I like about this vacuum is you can empty the dirt cup and not have to clean a filter inside the cup like other bagless models. I remember the Hoover Helpmate commercial from the fall of 1987. It showed how the Helpmate could be used as wet/dry handvac and I wanted one really bad for christmas that year. I got a dustbuster instead...oh well.

Bobby, I do remember the Eureka "Sweeps you off your feet" commercials from the 80's too. I thought it was a great marketing campaign. I didn't have a Eureka growing up but now that I have several in my collection, I can see why Eureka used this slogan in their commercials because these uprights were lightweight and easy to use plus they cleaned carpet pretty good.

Fantom thunder was first

Hello, The fantom Thunder was the first fantom and was the best out of all the fantoms. The fury was the worst out of all of them. The cleaning ability of the fury is compared to that of the regina housekeeper(CRAP!!!)

Does anyone here remember the Dirt Devil commercials of the early/mid '90's which featured Fred Astaire dancing with the vacuums?

Eureka

Swiveltop. Those guys down in the bottom of the rug, saying they won't get them, were called the Dirt Nicks! When I started with Eureka back in 1979. Those displays we already
being used in my customer windows and store displays. They
were part of the Vibr-groomer I promotion. AS a back hand
at Hoover, for it's Beats, as it sweeps as it cleans.

Dirt Devil

I remember the ad for the dirt devil handvac going from Upright to hand vac, but what I thought was interesting, was that when I first saw the commercial, i automatically thought it was a Royal metal upright that morphed into the hand vac... upon seeing the commercial a few more times, I could nearly swear that it was an older sanitronic styled Kirby that morphed..

I remember a Lady opening a closet to find a G.E, rolleasy with the hose comming up at her like a snake. The commentator saying somthing like have a ghost in your closet. The commercial was for a Eureka hoseaway

A few years before

Obviously every stately home needs a 1354A Dirtsearcher for those quick pickups..

Im sure they would have had a 912 lurking elsewhere for proper cleaning lol!
