Well they are sort of ugly in a cute way I think. Not only that they're loud and they dress in outrageously unbecoming outfits.

I think I used to have one...

but a long time ago my mom must have gotten rid of the Regina Electrikbroom we had. I want to say it had a tan bag with flowers on it. Tan and brown, I think...It was very ugly, and I never thought much of it. At the time, all I could think of was "Kirby!!"

Those early stick vacs with the full-sized power nozzles are just too cool...

I've seen a couple of NIB Electrikbrooms on eBay, and I believe there's one on there now. One of them was P/N-equipped which I wanted, but went a little too high for me!

I have a Regina Electricbroom that has the metal fan and fan housing-Actually like the thing-does good duty sweeping the kitchen floor.Got it at a yard sale for 5 bucks.also like the "tinkly" sound of things going thru its fan.A word of warning on the plastic fan housing Regina electrickbrooms-don't let it pick up a peice of wire or say a small nail-the object can get caught in the fan and dragged around --cutting off the intake nozzle the floor tool goes on--this actually happened to me years ago.Was kinda funny in a way.the Regina broom vacs were essentually "Crumb vacuums" for vacuuming crumbs and bits of dry cerial off kitchen floors.

Regina Electric broom

It seems that as a teenager almost everyone in my town owned a Regina Electric Broom. The models with the power-brush actually cleaned very well. We had a senior apt building in town, I would recomend the Regina power team to people moving in. There was just a flat pile, indoor outdoor grade of carpet in each apartment and for older folks the Regina did a great job. The one model even offered an attachment set.

I forget...

Did the Electrikbrooms just have that cloth bag, or did they take paper bags?

Tri Vac

I like the Electrolux Tri Vac better than the Electrikbroom because it had a paper bag and less dust flying around. I just wish it had the flip tool that the US lux's had. I do have three Electrikbrooms in my collection. They have great groovy designs on their bags and that is what draws me to them LOL!

Kyle, The bags on the Reginas are cloth and what you did when you were finished vacuuming is push down on the top of the bag and shake the bag to loosen dirt and let it fall into the dirt cup then empty the dirt cup. What people often did, as evidenced by the condition that i always find Electrikbrooms, is that they let the dirt accumulate in the vacuum just like they do in uprights. Of course this only coked the EB and greatly reduced the airflow. Poor things. I think when you keep them up, EB's work great on floors and flat rugs.

Yeah...

I wish people would keep up with their vacuums. I have seen a few Kirbys that just have so much darn dirt in them! It is what many people call "office dust." But this is antique office dirt. It often smells awful!! But, with some Chemturion biological suits (positive pressure suits), anyone can take care of that dirt! LOL!! :-)

Yes-I had one of those electricbooms with the power head-was a good machine(that was the one that picked up the peice of wire)It also had a bare floor tool so you could vacuum hard floors.It didn't have the attachments-but did have the "Handi-Handle"!For its size was rather powerful.And I did dump it after each use.I have seen these owned by others where it was packed with dirt-same with Kirbys.And yes-it was "Office dust" Yucch-nasty stuff.Was worse than "Household dirt"Officehold dirt" really bad.And why is it that black or sickening grey color?I beleive I bought my Electricbroom years ago from K-Mart in Marlow Heights Md.

How much do you want for the brown one or trade?

Black office dust? maybe they've been picking up toner ;p lol

I would wonder if the cloth bag in the broom vac would filter fine toner dust-The stuff is toxic and not good to breathe.that is why the toner companies urge you to pick it up only with a true "HEPA" filtered vacuum.

Post# 6106-12/20/2006-06:49 ||| Ian88 (England)

They say that you can only pick up Toner with a Henry as with any other vac it just goes through the filters and burns out the motor..I imagine with a dirty air vacuum this wouldn't be the case.

A vacuum for picking up toner dust usually has a HEPA filter ahead of the motor-or the dust conatiner is true HEPA rated-like the 3M vacuums for cleaning office machines and copiers.Instead of a bag these vacuums use a disposable container-filtrer assembly-Its clear plastic box like affair with a pleated HEPA filter built into it.The container can hold as much as most vacuum cleaner bags.It costs something like about $30 for two containers rated HEPA and toner capable.They sell less expensive ones for $20 per set that are for "regular" durst-these may not trap toner dust.also the 3M vacuums have a static conductive hose to bleed off static charges while using the vacuum-this is also to prevent damage to equipment being cleaned from static discharge.also 3M warns against using the vacuum in powered equipment-the hose could conduct enough to shock the user or short equipment that is being cleaned.the vacuum is intended to be used in deenergized equipment only.

No Ugly Sisters Here!

Pete!

What a cute EB collection! I remember those Electric Brooms, and how they were a boon to the housewife in the kitchen! They made easy business of taming debris on vinyl floors.

I do believe I had a dress in one of those patterns! AirWayCharlie, please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't US Air have flight attendant uniforms like the pattern on the left?;-)

Post# 7165-1/3/2007-11:06 ||| air-waycharlie (Fabulon)

Venus..........

You are correct about the pattern used for uniforms for USAirways, (nee Allegheny Airlines), flight hostesses. Interestingly, only the ugly hostesses were allowed to wear that particular uniform, (kind of like the ugly vac sisters), and, heavens knows, we had our fair share.

The charming, handsome and pretty host's and hostess's uniforms were Don Loper of Hollywood, haute couture and fitted. You may have seen photos of me wearing that one.
