you can see her secrete

the bottle of marvel mistery oil has helped that alumimum engin run better/cleaner ,I never seen such a old engine of that make & design run so long in my history of working on mowers,on avarage 5to 6 years their worn out bad, that oil additive she used keped the carburetor clean as new!!! & the cylneder in great shape, you never know about how good additives are until you see this happen, she puts one cap full in the gas & some to each oil change, amazing story here

I have to admit I also like old lawn mowers...

I do not collect them but I do like them. The ones I remember that I thought were cool. My neighbor on the farm had a Sunbeam gasoline one that had a very cool starter on it. You wound it with the crank and flipped the handle back after you wound it and then clicked the switch, it was a hard start but once it did it ran great. It also came with a bag/grass catcher, but they never used it. I remember it was a light blue and yes they even had the book on it.

The other one I thought was cool was a neighbor of my grandparents had this little electric Sunbeam mower that had like a elecrtic Ice-cream motor mounted on top. The grass could blow from front or rear, depending on which direction you flipped the handle toward. My grandfather said that they had one just like it before the electric Black and Decker he was using at that time. I thought it was a cool machine as well, that Black and Decker had a bag/grass catcher and a handle that flipped the dual blades on the bottom it hummed like an airplane, but not as loud of course, when you turned the switch on. He was very picky about it he would always clean out the bottom after everytime he mowed the yard. It had a place in the garaged that it always sat next to his big old Chrysler in the garage. The 1975 Chrysler Newport they had just fit in the garage and so there was not much room for anything else, but mower was propt up next to the wall next to the left front tire of the Chrysler.

nice story David

we all have nice storys on things ,you mentioned a Chrysler ,heres my 1969 chrysler Newport ,I paid $40 for it in 1981 & put an additional 78,000 miles on it total was 192,000 miles then went to the scrap in 1991(note the Chevy grille in it,that came from a 1974 impala ,the original Chrysler grille was missing, many things have much more life in them if you care for them,I do that with all of things I own ,found a kirby omega in the trash only needed brushes!!!

Wow that is really cool

The cool thing is that my grandparents had a 1970 Chrylser Newport before their 75 just like your body style. The color was Chiffon Yellow of the '70. My grandparents were Chrysler and before that Desoto people.

I have a 1965 Chrysler 300 4 dr right now that I am trying to fix up Clay Floyd got to drive it alot when he lived here. I love old cars as well.

I also like old and new lawnmowers-another interesting appliance-and have used those twin blade BD and Sunbeam mowers-a freind had a blue sunbeam TB one that had the twin discharge spouts. Both the Sunbeam and BD mowers have universal motors-like the motor in a blender or vacuum-and the motor drove the blades with two belts-have also replaced belts in these-if you hit something really hard-the blade affected would break its belt-a mechanical fuse.I also like rechargeable electric mowers-good things of both the cordless ability of a gas mower-but the quiet and cleaniness of an electric. The cordless electric makes mowing your yard as easy as vacuuming your living room floor!Would love to see the GE "Electric-Trac" reintroduced-a cordless electric lawn tractor!!

Centralvacman:There used to be a dealer for the GE tractors in the Forestville,Md area-outside of Wash DC.It was a small lawnmower shop-he couldn't carry them in stock-but could order one for you-he showed a demo tape of the machine-was very impressive-esp when they showed the GE tractor and a gas tractor(12Hp)connected drawbar to drawbar-that GE tractor was dragging the gas tractor all over the feild they were in-the gas tractor driver was trying to shift gears and still was dragged along!was impressive-would love to have a copy of that tape.It also showed the rototiller and sweeper attachments.Thjey also had the plugs on them. What happened to your electric-Trac?Too bad I lived in an apartment at the time-I really wanted a yard and mower!Did get my mowing kicks from mowing the radio station towerfeild where I workled and got paid for it!It would have been fun to use the GE tractor!
