As I am trying to make my decision to join the VCCC, one of the things I would like to be clear on is the price of the annual dues and benefits of membership. I am also curious as to the price of the annual convention, and whether or not you have to be a member to go to the convention. From what I understand, you may still go to the convention even if you aren't a member by paying a bit more. Is this correct? Is getting the newsletter the only benefit of becoming a member? If someone could clear this up for me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Derreck

Your dues entitle you to attend the convention and 4 newsletters a year. You are allowed to bring a guest with you to the convention under your membership. It gives you voting rights at the annual meeting as well. As far as I know you can not pay an additional fee just to attend the convention.

Down the road we may consider a members only section to the web site as well. This is costly and time consuming to do. It also causes more work for the web master. Ask Charlie Lester, he can tell you!

We look forward to having you as a member.

Dues

Derreck:
I believe that the price of the four newsletters is now $35 per year, making them not quite $9 each. You can always go as the 'guest' of any club member to the convention. It costs NOTHING to go to one of the 'mini meets' (gatherings) during the year. Last year, I think the cost for members of the convention (the cost of registration) was either $75 or $85, I can't remember. That did get you dinner one night and lunch one day. The rest of the meals you had to buy yourself, as well as your expense for travel and lodging.

The newsletters are the only thing the club has 'for sale'. If people didn't pay their $35, and just got their information for FREE off the website, the website couldn't continue long. Last year, at the convention, they had a raffle to raise money for the website. I (and several others, namely RJ) donated items to the raffle. It was a great success, as you can see by our new website.
