It would appear that the courtsey of not bidding against people you know isnt now an option!. Apparently the bid list is now only shown as bidder1 bidder 2 etc!

Seamus and I were discussing that one the other evening! Definitely a candidate for Mr. Lester's 'Invasion of the Mutant Vacuum Cleaners' page, I think!

I don't think much could really be 'done', short of setting it on fire, or perhaps crushing it...it's so corroded and incomplete, chances are nothing except perhaps the bumper strip are worth saving...maybe a wheel or two...119's are so plentiful here, it's really not worth restoring when you could find six better examples within a few minutes of searching!

HAHA!!

Well, I always have trouble finding Hoovers; really, any vacuum cleaner. I guess down south here, many people just love their old vacuums. Or maybe there are other vacuum collectors that like to take all the vacuums they can find and "put them in their barn for them to never see daylight again..." I really want a good example of an old Hoover. As well as a Lux, for that matter...

I also have a hard time finding older vacuums and large appliances such as washers here-The South is considered the "Land of Rust" to appliance fans.also lack of basements here is a detriment to collectors.I can almost watch my washers and Dryer rust at their bases here. And my house even has a vapor barrier.I know of one fellow at work who puts his old appliances in the barn to further corrode away.I have run into some machines thouigh-its just slower going.I did get an older HB mixer from a yard sale.-Then found a newer one at another.HB's factory used to be located out here-so HB machines were quite common.and some of the people that live here used to work at the Washington,NC HB factory.

My good friend, and fellow club member, Frank Morgan lives in Alabama. I visted him when I went to the Air-Way factory for the production and launch of the Signature Series. Frank and I went to some of the MANY thrift stores in Alabama, and found a ton of old vacuums in just one day's looking. I've never seen to many junk and thrift stores in one state in my life. You should have no trouble finding old cleaners where you live. I found a Silver King, a Gem, a Filter Queen Majestic, a Rainbow SE, a Hoover 300 and 305, all in one day, and for less than $100 for the lot. I even found a Hoover Steam Vac with a missing filter for $3. I paid $4 for the filter, and sold the Steam Vac for $100 in the shop. I LOVE the thrift stores in Alabama.
