Here is the Lawnboy that I picked up yesterday. It is model 5236 in Spring Green just like the model 1010 and 1020 Hoover Convertible of the same era. It is a 19" model which is perfect for my yard. Someone had changed the cover on the deck to a mulcher and has replaced the rear wheels. I am looking forward to restoring this one. It does run but has a leaky needle valve which is giving the engine way too much gas. I just love the sound of these machines and they cut beautifully. Does anyone have 4 good wheels for this mower? They are supposed to have little "whitewalls" on each one. I am also in need of a deck plate for this model. Enjoy the pics!

Lawn Boy

Great looking mower, I just got a model 5244 that runs great.
The front tires on you mower appear to be the correct tires. They are still available at your local Lawn-Boy dealer.

I am looking for one older yet. I want the brown one with the round tank and T handle.

You will never find a mower better than a Lawn-Boy. Briggs & Statton engines and most of the 4 cycle companies can't hold a candle to Lawn-Boys 2 cycle.

Lawnboy

Tom
The first Power Mower I ever used was in 1957. Yes, It was the
brown and darkgreen Lawnboy. The first and second ones I owened in the 70's and early 80's were they light green ones.
It's like the sound of a Hoover 28 or a 500 series Kirby. just this
wonderful gental roar, so that you know its doing it's job. Now
I have a Black and Decker $99.00 electric in my basement for the past 8 years since I bought this house. As I have hired
someone to mow for the past 6 years!! It's much easier that
way. I do love the Lawnboys!

I've been mowing with Lawn-Boys since 1968, my first one being a 19 inch just like this one, except the model # was 5237 instead of 5236. Had it for 11 years, then it was stolen out of our garage in 1979, while I was away on vacation.
Morgan, I couldn't agree with you more--you'll never find a better mower. Unfortunately, this year's Lawn-Boys are a major disappointment. They no longer have the 2 cycle engine or the staggered front wheels, and the whole wheel, including the tire, is plastic!! So, my 1998 Silver Series Self-Propelled will probably be the LAST brand new Lawn-Boy I ever buy. Even then, I like my OLDER Lawn-Boys even better yet. I do have a gold one, but it has the oblong tank, and the floating front wheel. My oldest is a model 3100, green and reddish-copper colors, from 1957, with ROPE start (not recoil),and it usually fires on the first pull! Another favorite is my model 3057, an 18" model from 1972, that usually starts on the first pull.
