Does anyone have some good ideas on how to store all the vacuums and their attachments? My house is a vacuum disaster! Thanks much, Barbara MacMillan

Barbara

I have the same problem too, I have vacs every where now that's why I have put a halt to buying anymore but I am looking for a few more but won't be buying like I was, I have a wooden portable building that I have most of mine in. I have shelves where I have my canisters on and up to the top the rafters selve as my hose storage and I have containers that I keep my attachments in. I have one bedroom that is a vac room but I do have vacs everywhere in the den, computer room. I have my uprights just standing up in the vac building. And I have have a big collection of floor polishers and mixers too.

Vacuum Mess

Barbara,

Hopefully we can get Jeff Parker to post his pictures, he has some of his vacuums hung on the wall and others in plasic containers. Fred Nelson also has some great shelving ideas that he and Charlie Watrous have used. Fred Statnik also has collection very well displayed using shelves.

I have all my vacuums in one room and have told myself that will be the only room you will find vacuums. I limit my collection to around 40 - 50 vacuums. When I tire of one or get the urge to buy something then I sell or give one to friend in the club. By doing that I know the vacuum will have a good home.

Re: Storage:

Hi! Barbara, on the opening Page, you will see View Collections, click on that I-Con and then click on Hoover1060's listing. That is where you can see how Jeff has set up his Collection of Vacuum Cleaners. I hope that this helps you with your inquiry.

Skip, I would be careful with storing your Vacuum Cleaners in a Shed, unless it is well Insulated and well Weatherized for a good Environmentally Controlled Temperature, otherwise you will experience the possibility of the Motors Freezing up, causing excess Repair needs. I hope that this helps you, as well as not being too late for info to help you as my caution suggestion, to preserve your Collection Pieces.

Kind Regards, Steve

i think Morgans idea is very logical. there is nothing wrong with a collection, but there is also nothing wrong with keeping it under control. perhaps you and your son can arrive at a predetermined limit on cleaners? if you look at the *pictures of collections* tab on the home page, you will see lots of ideas for display, including those chromed modular shelving units, like you see in restaurants. though your son may object at first, you have every right to limit cleaners to "what will fit in the den" or basement. if you already have more cleaners than can possibly be displayed, please do have Scott get rid of a cleaner if he *needs* to get another. its wonderful that you are supporting your son in this uncommon hobby, and he will no doubt appreciate it when he gets older.

Hose and attachment storage

One of the things I like to do is use hoses as a baseboard. I line up all hoses without curved handles end to end and in corners I use the hoses with curved ends. I follow the conture of the room. If you feel creative you can also follow the ceiling trim. This shows off the hoses, and keeps them out of the way.

Some machines like the Electrolux model LX have a ride on tool holder. Put it to good use by showing off the tools. Keep Kirby tools in their tool box and stand it up next to, or behind that model. Between the uprights hang cloth bags for display. And if there is space in your house, design a "vacuum cleaner room."

A pegboard wall works wonders. Have fun and be creative.

Alex.

Shelves like Fred Nelson

Yes i plan on doing that exact same thing in my house with my vacs and maybe I will be able to get them in the one bedroom, instead of some being in the den and computer room and my bedroom has some too
