Could someone exlplain the meaning of this check?

Here is an entry from Wikpedia - Who Eleanor was. You are way to young to know who she was. This check was made out to Electrolux, probably for some bags from her office in Beverly Hills. I know exactly where she bought them from, probably on 3rd Street or Highland in Hollywood. What a hoot!

Back in the day, there were Electrolux offices all over the greater L.A. area. The one closest to Beverly Hills would have been in Westwood, on Westwood Blvd.

There was also:

Hollywood - on LaBrea (not Highland) just north of 3rd Street

Glendale - on Brand Blvd.

North Pasadena [almost in Altadena] - on the corner of Lake Ave. and Orange Grove Blvd.

Santa Monica - on Wilshire Blvd. (I think - or was it Santa Monica Blvd?)

Van Nuys - on Van Nuys Blvd. (? or was it Sepulveda?)

North Hollywood - on Magnolia Ave. near Hollywood Way

East Los Angeles - Atlantic Blvd. near Slauson Ave.

Long Beach - on Market St. near Atlantic Blvd.

Inglewood - on Century Blvd., near Prairie Ave.

Those are the ones I know of; there may have been others besides.

Now, there are NONE. There is an "Electrolux" dealer listed on Hollywood Boulevard but it's just a phone in some Armenian guy's home (has heavy accent) -- there is no retail store or showroom. If you call him, he will offer "to give a free in-home demonstration" but he has no office or branch to come in to see the cleaners.

Charles, there is still one in San Diego on Mercury Drive off the I 15. Of course it's an Aerus Dealer but they will still pick up vacuums and drop them back off. They have a little show room with the Centalux set up and all of the latest models on the floor. Under a table is a beat up Model XXX, a model G and a E i believe.
