I'll try to keep this short and to the point. The Convention Committee has been working on VCCC Convention in Omaha--"The Great American Bison Roundup!", since we became a committee at this year's convention.
Omaha presented us a challenge from the beginning because of the dates the club uses. The American Men's Baseball Tournament, an annual event in Omaha, takes place at the same time as our event creating a shortage of hotels/motels, hence meeting rooms.
So, after careful consideration, the Convention Committee decided we would change the date for our convention since we were committed to Omaha. We spent a lot of time looking at how this would impact attendance and how we could keep it convenient for everyone. A new date was selected and then the Board was notified for a vote. The overwhelming vote was, "YES", to the new date.
Mark your calendars: the 2007 VCCC convention will be September 13 through 16.
Why this date? Some of the influencing factors: May contains both Mother's Day and Memorial Day holidays; later in June starts encroaching on the July 4th weekend; July and August are the two biggest vacation months in the USA effecting prices for EVERYTHING; once past Labor Day in September the calendar is holiday free until Thanksgiving.
Also, once past Labor Day, typically gas prices go down, airline fares go down, hotel prices go down, highways and skyways are less congested, etc.
This information was to be announced in the July newsletter. Due to reasons unclear, (or not known to me), R. J., who is in charge of the newsletter, has not been able to fulfull his responsibility of delivering a copy to Morgan for proofreading.
Every editor has either been the President or the President has ALWAYS proofed the copy of a non-President editor. It is the President's responsibility to make sure the newsletter is correct and that editorial "license" has not been taken with material submitted unless authorized.
As of last week, Morgan informed me that, he STILL has not received a copy to proof. We both thought it imperative to get out the news of the date change, so here we are. It was our intention to give you more than a year's notice so you can plan accordingly. Now you have at least a 1 year notification.
When the newsletter does finally make it to us, you will see the article that I wrote about this with some additional information.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this will cause. But, if everyone had followed through with their committments and promises, you would have had this information in July.

Thank you for being our informed source! Austin is already looking forward to the trek to Omaha. I'm not sure who and/or what will be in tow, but you will see some Wilders for sure!!
