So, last week we were bouncing from thrift store to thrift store--naturally I sniffed out the vacuums right away. I haven't purchased a vacuum in quite a while - moving and not having the space or the money really helps with not making new purchases... but I decided it was high time I bought one.. I was craving it.

All in all, this was a very easy machine to work on! Very simple and straightforward.

Yay for Documenting a Restoration!
Fred that is such a fabulous restoration you did and the pictures are super cool! I just love photographing and showing off restorations, it’s one of the things that makes our clubs great. So dirty when you got it, but now it looks beautiful, so nice and shiny and ready to go.

Oh Fred, nice cleanup job but I'm afraid it doesn't seem to fit with any of your stuff and to be honest you don't even look that thrilled in the after shots. Tell you what, drop it off over at my place this weekend and I'll refund your money and buy you lunch... I already have bags for it, thanks ![]() |

You know Pete, those would probably fit your Dometic 503 with a bit of modification ;]

Ya know if you look at the "mechanics" of the 70s US electrolux upright you'll see they're virtually identical in that respect.

Thanks Fred for sharing the Great pictures of your restoration with us. The machine turned out just beautiful. I have an Electrolux Discovery III upright that I got from Roger and I really like using it. |

Awesome job Fred, nothing less that one would expect from you! I have one of these and have a question. The handle pulls back just fine, but to put the handle back up in the upright position, it requires a very stern push and loud click. The two metal pieces look o.k., can these be bent some way so putting the handle back up is not so hard? Other than that the vacuum works flawlessly, has had very light use from it's previous owner. I haven't had a chance to have it looked at by a vac shop, and our Electrolux office in St. Louis was closed due to poor management and lack of sales force. |

These are nice cleaners - I had a similar model, same case design but more of an "ensemble in brown" coloring. They are terrific carpet cleaners, but the design of the dirt-path from the floor to the bag is a bit winding and they tend to clog fairly easily for the clueless & careless.

Thanks for showing
The pictures of the parts all spread out. I like to do that too. It really shows off what all has gone into a restoration! Great job!!! |
