I got the DVD this week of the Electrolux Renaissance Informercial from a fellow collector. It's really a great show, starting out with brief glimpses of the V, XXX, LX and F, then the stage for the informercial has several "kiosk" type displays with the V, XXX, XII, G and LXI (note it has a chrome cord halo!)

Whatever the Guardian lost in apperance it gained in quality. The Renaissance has a horrible reputation for being unreliable. Most of it has to do with the complex (for a vacuum) circitry in the handle that was very expensive to replace and failed all the time.

Until you posted this I'd totally forgotten about those. Never see them around anywhere. |

Great machine!
I have a monotone gray Rennaisance and its successor, the Epic 800, in my collection. They're really wonderful Electroluxes; they're quiet, powerful, effective cleaners. They're heavy, though. I never cared for the Guardian models' HEPA module; it's ugly. I would prefer the older models used with IOTA bags than the new ones with the expensive, proprietary HEPA filter on top. |

Those add on HEPA filters they and I think Rainbow use are like a pimple on the backside. Certainly ruin the looks.

I agree - the Renaissance is a great machine. I got one new for Christmas and still have it. Great suction, long cord and hose. I heard that they had trouble with the circuit boards, but haven't experienced it. I sent it to Charlie Watrous who did a beauty makeover and sent it back. Here it is when I received it for Christmas. My partner Ed never had any problems figuring out what I wanted for Christmas. Bought at the Glendale, CA Electrolux branch. ![]() |

What year did they produce those blue ones? |

Yes, Pete & I were discussing this first issue Renaissance today and how sharp & dignified it looks with the dark bumper strip and painted in speed strakes and lettering. We'll both be looking for one...er...two. :-)

Charles--This Is Nathan-Writing in regard to Rennaisance
Hey, Charles--I don't have my internet anymore, I'm writing from the computer at work, I do have a Rennaisance with a powerhead, and a hose, the hose isn't in too good of shape, also I have an Aerus/Lux 9000, in really good shape, with a powerhead, If you would be interested in either of these machines or both, I'd make you a good deal on them. They are simply taking up space in my garage, and I don't use them. If I recall, they both run. If you would like them I'll be happy to go through them and check them over and clean the motors out, like I say I don't have the internet, and so if you want to call me sometime feel free to do so--my number is (806) 341-0572.

Hi Nathan, thanks for the offer but unless your deal is "reeeeally reeeeeeeeeeeeeally" good I'll have to pass right now. Just don't have any spare dough for vacuums at the moment. Not to mention that I really don't need any more vacuums right now, either. They seem to have been multiplying when I'm not looking, and they're starting to get out of hand again. May have to thin the herd out again soon.......

To Charles
Hi, Charles--I understand, I'm in the same situation you are, in regard to vacuums, they seem like they are "coming out of the woodwork"! In other words, they are multiplying! I'm scared to count, I may have close to 300 vacuums by now! It seems like I find Lux's at garage sales all the time, I found a Diamond J at a garage sale along with a Pro-Lux upright, I got both machines for $8.00! The Diamond J's Hose and powerhead were wrapped top to bottom in electrical tape! It still runs, I went through the motor and it works fine. In regard to a deal on the Renny and the Aerus 9000, would you be interested in both machines for $250.00? I would take that for both machines, plus shipping, so I would think that $300 should cover. Let me know and in the meantime I'll go through the machines and check the motors out. I just don't use those machines, and they are taking up space in my garage, I am a lot like other Lux collectors, in that I prefer the older metal machines, like the G. I've got waaayyy too many machines, and need some extra money, as the furnace in my trailer went to pot, and a new one was $1800.00! OUUUCCCHHH! Anyway--I know this is long but if you would be interested let me know.

Oh no, Karl, go for it. Even as good a deal as Nathan is offering, it's not within the budget at present. Again, that's why I posted to Nathan's offer here on the forum, so other people might know I have "passed" on it.

Thanks Charles. I hope someday you do get a Renaissance, but somehow I like your model V much better. In any event, Nathan, could you please email me if you are interested in selling the Lux 9000? My email address is Fishbowl2525@hotmail.com. Thanks.

To Karl From Nathan in regard to Lux 9000
Hi, Karl, at the moment I do not have the internet. I have been posting from the computer at work, I would be interested in selling the Lux 9000. It really is the nicer of the machines, although the Renny isn't too bad, it, the Renny, needs a new hose. The Lux 9000 is in really nice shape, it just needs the HEPA Filter on top. The only way I can touch base is through the forum, at the moment, as I don't have the internet. If you are interested in the Lux 9000 only, I will take $200.00 plus shipping for it, as is. If I go through and clean it I'd have to have a little more for it. Anyway--feel free to call me on my cell phone anytime at (806) 341-0572 and I'll be glad to talk to you.

Sorry for bringing this topic back up, but I'm new to the group...
I have a Renaissance that I picked up for a terrific price...$7.95 at a thrift store a couple of years ago. It came with everything but the Sidekick. I really like the machine, and use it almost daily on the hardwood floors, and for the dusting. Great machine, really substantial, and with good power.
