This is my first time posting here so I need everyones adivce. In our kitchen, we just got a new floor. It is lanolieum tile. it is very hard to keep clean and I was wondering if any one hhad a stick vac recomdations for the floor.

The Riccar Omni-Clean. It has excellent suction, and its built a lot tougher than most cheapie stick vacs. It's a really easy to use, and easy to take care of machine!

You should look at the Miele.com website and check out the Miele model 163. It's quiet, powerful, and has very good filtration. I love mine.

for $149. It's more expensive than the department store stick vacs, but it's built a lot better, and is more powerful!

I am on a budget.... My friend has the SwivelSweeper... I havent tried it yet.. Are they good?

What is the price range? REMBER... I am on a budget. (are they any good?)

The swivel sweeper isn't really a vacuum it has 4 spinning brushes to sweep the dirt up like a carpet sweeper. I tried one in the store and it works. I have a similar thing to it, a Karcher EZ broom it works well for sweeping up crums etc off linoleum. Before I bought that one I bought a different one from Shark, again just a spinning brush up front but it broke so I returned it and got the Karcher. How sturdy the Swivel Sweeper is in the long run is a good question but it just might be what you're looking for

if you get any good canister, the attachments are PERFECT for cleaning hardwoods, linoleum, etc. For example, an Electrolux (the old, better kind) is a good choice, as it has great suction as well as the best designed floor attachments ever. But the GE attachments are good, too. Well, really, the GE are better because all you do is lift up the nozzle and you can switch sides. So, it is all personal preference. I have mostly hardwoods and love canisters, but when it comes to carpets, I pull out the "big guns," which include my Kirby Heritage and my Kirby Omega. But with the duster-buffer pad, you can easily clean hard surfaces with an upright. Whatever suits your needs!

Got one last christmas, I LOVE IT!but, if you tip it over dirt will fling out. My grandma bought me a shark sweeper but it is junk. she got me the hand sweeper and it is trash.

I do not have that many canisters. I only have a Oreck BB, Kennmore 3.5 Powermate, and Dirt Devil Can Vac Model 2003. The best vacuum in my collection for hard floor is the CanVac with the Kennmores Wall\floor brush. KYLE KRICHBAUM (my good friend) I want your advice!

My friend got the Shark Sweeper and Shark Roadster Upright. Well, the sweeper is another story, but the Roadster is just JUNK! The belt broke within the 1st min that he owned it, We replaced it and then the headlight burnt out. The sweeper, the handle broke without being used daily! (more like yearly) LOL! DONT USE EUROPRO!

P.S. I had the shark hand vac plus with all of the fancy tools! It broke because I left it on for about a half hour for cleaning my house with it to see how well it would do? DONT EVEN ASK (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR)

that people only care about how much it costs to produce something, not how good the quality is. It is sad to see that those EuroPro thingies to such a bad job, and then when we used to have Regina Electrikbrooms!! My, how times have changed...

IIRC what broke my Shark sweeper I was sweeping up and a quarter or a nickel on the floor got caught between the brushroll and the outer casing jamming it momentarily and then stripping the brittle plastic brushroll gears. They advertise the thing as being able to pick up nuts and bolts, lego pieces etc. but watch out.

FALSE ADVERTISING!! I hate that...

Thank You to everyone who helped me out on my decision, Now I am not a vintage vacuum expert( I confess, I know hardly nothing about them due to my lack of resources) Are the "Hooverettes" any good. There is a thrift shop here in Wheeling that always seems to have vintage hoovers, reginas, and BlackNDecker car vacs. ( I got my 1140 Dial-a-Matic for $2.00 there!) I go there almost every weekend. I cant collect many vacuums from there (oh, i got an Oreck XL 4000 there for 10 bucks!) because my moom says ' it does not look like a good one (as in poor quality) or "it is to Dirty"

I prefer to use a good broom and dustpan in the kitchen. It is not flummoxed by the occasional macaroni or other solid object.

I wonder why your linoleum is so hard to keep clean? Have you washed and waxed it? A good coat of high quality wax will help it repel dirt and stains. Even so called no-wax vinyl flooring benefits from a good waxing.

You could also check Consumer Reports and go for the models that do best on hard floors. I agree that a canister is probably the best choice. The floor brush attachment without a rotating brush roll is best for hard flooring. Most uprights can't equal that, even those that turn the brushroll off (the roll can still get in the way of proper cleaning, IMHO).

On the other hand, Bissell (I think) makes a nifty little job called the Broomvac. It might just be the best all-around solution for kitchen floors.

You cant wax or wash lanolieum. It says in the manual to just wipe it with a damp mop. I have tried a squirt bottle from teh dollar store with water in it. Vacuum the floor first, then wet, spread, and then vacuum up with a wet vac with squeege attachment.

The owners manual says only use damp mop and vacuum... best CORDLESS stick vac PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMHO the best cordless stick vac is the Hoover Slider. I think that for a quick clean up you just can't beat them. Terry

Well, I talked to Kyle K. and he reccomends the Hoover Flair, I looked at it online, and I do not like it that much. I have finally decided on the Swivel Sweeper. Hopefully, I will get one for christmas! My grandmas church has one and my friend has one who wants to bring it over to my showroom, but his mom will not allow. Thanks for all of your help.
